Reporting To : Project Head / Project Director

Role Overview:

- We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager - Civil / Electrical to lead, manage, and deliver construction activities for utility-scale or ground-mounted solar EPC projects.


- The Construction Manager will be responsible for end-to-end execution of either civil or electrical works (as per specialization), ensuring adherence to quality, safety, timelines, and cost objectives, while coordinating with multiple stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Mobilization

- Review project scope, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contract documents for civil or electrical works.

- Develop detailed construction execution plans and schedules aligned with overall project timelines.

- Plan manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractor mobilization for site execution.

- Identify construction risks and constraints; develop mitigation strategies.

2. Construction Execution & Supervision

Civil Scope (for Civil Construction Manager):

- Oversee site grading, earthwork, excavation/filling, foundations (pile or shallow), RCC works, internal roads, drainage systems, fencing, boundary walls, and equipment/substation foundations.

- Ensure proper execution of all civil and structural works as per approved drawings and specifications.

Electrical Scope (for Electrical Construction Manager):

- Supervise installation of DC systems (module mounting structures, module installation, DC cabling).

- Manage AC works including inverters, transformers, switchgear, HT/LT cabling, pooling substation works, and grid interconnection.

- Coordinate electrical equipment erection, testing readiness, and interface with commissioning teams.

- Manage subcontractors, site engineers, supervisors, and skilled/unskilled workforce.

- Ensure coordination between civil, electrical, structural, and mechanical teams to avoid execution conflicts.

3. Quality Assurance, Safety & Compliance

- Ensure all construction activities comply with approved drawings, technical specifications, applicable codes, and standards.

- Monitor workmanship quality, material quality, installation practices, and testing readiness.

- Implement and enforce EHS standards, safety procedures, PPE compliance, and site housekeeping.

- Conduct toolbox talks, safety audits, quality inspections, and corrective action implementation.

4. Coordination & Stakeholder Management

- Coordinate closely with project management, design & engineering, procurement, QA/QC, and HSE teams.

- Interface with vendors, subcontractors, inspectors, consultants, and client representatives.

- Liaise with external agencies such as utilities, statutory authorities, and inspection bodies when required.

- Ensure timely resolution of site-level technical and execution issues.

5. Progress Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation

- Track daily, weekly, and monthly construction progress against approved schedules.

- Maintain site records including progress reports, manpower deployment, material consumption, and equipment utilization.

- Identify delays or deviations and escalate to Project Head with recovery plans.

- Ensure maintenance of as-built drawings, redline markups, inspection records, and completion documentation.

6. Cost Control & Contract Management

- Monitor construction costs related to manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.

- Control wastage and ensure optimal resource utilization.

- Review subcontractor bills, work completion certificates, and variation claims.

- Support commercial team in evaluating change orders and scope variations.

7. Testing, Completion & Handover

- Ensure readiness for testing, commissioning, and inspections (civil or electrical, as applicable).

- Oversee punch-list closure, defect rectification, and final finishing works.

- Ensure all construction deliverables meet contractual and quality requirements before handover.

- Support smooth handover to commissioning, O&M, or client teams with complete documentation.

8. Team Leadership & Site Discipline

- Lead and motivate site engineers, supervisors, foremen, and workforce.

- Assign responsibilities, monitor productivity, and maintain discipline at site.

- Provide technical guidance and on-site decision-making support.

- Promote a collaborative work culture across disciplines and contractors.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

- B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering (as applicable).

- Diploma holders with strong, relevant solar EPC experience may be considered.

Experience:

- 10-15 years of construction experience, preferably in utility-scale solar EPC projects.

- Proven experience in managing large site teams and multiple subcontractors.

Technical Knowledge:

- Strong understanding of solar project construction practices (civil or electrical domain).

- Ability to read and interpret drawings, BOQs, specifications, and schedules.

- Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
