Role Overview:
The Assistant Manager Category will support the end-to-end category strategy, driving product planning, pricing, assortment management, and lifecycle performance. The role requires strong analytical capability, customer-centric mindset, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to convert insights into actionable strategies that deliver growth, profitability and brand impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Strategy & Planning:
- Support in development of annual and seasonal line plans aligned with business goals and consumer insights.
- Identify assortment gaps and opportunity areas using data and trend analysis.
- Track competitor positioning, launches and pricing strategies.
Product Lifecycle Management:
- Coordinate with design, sourcing and production to ensure timely product development and launch.
- Analyse sell-through, inventory and product performance to drive in-season actions
- Manage and review category pricing strategy periodically.
Data & Insights:
- Track category performance KPIs including revenue, margins, inventory health and sell-through.
- Conduct consumer research and leverage feedback to steer product direction.
- Develop post-launch reviews and performance reports.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work with Marketing to design effective go-to-market plans aligned to positioning and launch priorities.
- Liaise with Operations and Supply Chain to optimise stock planning and replenishment cycles.
- Partner with Finance on budgeting, margin tracking and financial impact of category decisions
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Retail or related fields. Undergrad from tier 1 college(IIT
SRCC,LSR or equivalent) preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in category management or strategy roles in fast paced environments
- Strong analytical and Excel proficiency.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
