SUMMARY :

Blackstone Shipping has operations in 23 offices across 12 countries, with 11 of these offices located in India.

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic General Manager - Finance to lead the financial operations of Blackstone Shipping India. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business, including financial planning, reporting, treasury, compliance, and risk management. This role requires a strong understanding of the Freight Forwarding Industry and the ability to drive business efficiency and growth through financial leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Business Finance:

This role will be responsible for leading the business finance function, which is crucial for managing financial resources and achieving strategic goals. Key responsibilities include:

- Financial Planning & Analysis: Manage the annual budgeting and business planning exercises. Drive periodic reviews of financial and non-financial business metrics to monitor performance. Conduct segment, vertical, and geography-wise analysis to improve organisational productivity.

- Operational & Cost Management: Lead cost optimisation initiatives to build business efficiency. Co-create business and operational strategies in close coordination with Business Heads and Directors. This also includes providing funds for various operations and evaluating the cost-effectiveness of production processes.

- Treasury & Working Capital: Oversee the day-to-day management of cash flows, including the timely collection of receivables and optimising payments to creditors. Develop cash flow forecasts based on business dynamics. Establish banking processes and controls, and create additional credit lines from operational creditors and bank partnerships. Manage all forex-related activities and ensure the accurate and efficient management of multi currency operations to minimise foreign exchange risk

- Monthly MIS Reporting: Oversee the preparation and timely submission of all Monthly MIS and related reports.

2. Statutory Finance (Controllership):

The General Manager will oversee the statutory finance function, ensuring the company adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements in India. This includes:

- Bookkeeping and Finalisation: Manage bookkeeping for both corporate and branch offices, ensuring compliance with IGAAP/IFRS standards. Oversee the timely closure of financial books and finalization of accounts.

- Audits: Ensure all internal and external audits, including concurrent audits and statutory audits, are completed efficiently and on time.

- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations, including tax laws (GST, TDS, and Income Tax), labour laws (such as the Minimum Wages Act, PF, and ESI), and the Companies Act. Manage risk and internal controls through periodic audits.

- Credit Control & Management: Establish and enforce credit policies, and manage the complete process of new customer approval and addition. Conduct periodic reviews of the customer portfolio to create timely alerts and mitigate credit risk.

- Vendor & Customer Onboarding: Oversee the new customer and vendor onboarding processes, including KYC and master data amendments.

ABOUT YOU:

- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent professional finance qualification.

- Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role, preferably within the shipping or logistics industry in India.

- Excellent stakeholder management for internal and external coordination and problem-solving - Ability to drive the standardisation and automation of financial and business processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

- A skilled mentor and coach who helps team members build a high-performing finance team.

- A unique combination of good interpersonal and communication/presentation skills, both written and oral, coupled with a sharp business acumen and consultative approach.

- Well-networked in the industry to aid revenue generation and collaboration .
