
Job Description for the position of Legal Head:
Legal Strategy and Leadership:
- Develop and implement the company's legal strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Provide strategic legal advice and guidance to senior management on all legal matters.
- Oversee and manage the legal department, including staff supervision and performance management.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure the company's compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and permits related to mining operations.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in mining regulations and advise the company accordingly.
- Develop and implement compliance programs to prevent and detect legal violations.
Litigation Management:
- Manage all legal disputes and litigation, including contract disputes, environmental claims and land rights issues and Arbitration
- Work with external counsel when necessary, ensuring cost-effective and efficient legal representation.
- Develop and implement strategies for resolving disputes and minimizing legal risks.
Contract Management:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements, including mining leases, supply contracts, and service agreements.
- Ensure that all contracts are legally sound and protect the company's interests.
Due Diligence and Transactions:
- Conduct legal due diligence on potential acquisitions, investments, and other transactions.
- Provide legal advice on structuring and closing transactions.
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Develop and implement legal procedures and policies to ensure compliance and minimize legal risks.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, regulatory bodies, and community representatives.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings and negotiations
