A Research Analyst position supporting government bids in the U.S. public sector typically involves responsibilities related to gathering, analyzing, and presenting data to support the development and submission of government contract proposals Key Responsibilities: 1. Market Research: - Conduct detailed research on U.S. government agencies, procurement trends, and upcoming opportunities. - Identify key opportunities using platforms like SAM.gov, agency procurement forecasts, and other bid boards. - Analyze agency priorities, mission needs, and budget trends to support bid strategies. 2. Bid/Proposal Support: - Collect and synthesize data to support proposal writing teams. - Research competitor capabilities and pricing trends to inform bid strategies. - Assist in preparing competitive analyses, including Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT). 3. Data Analysis: - Analyze and interpret complex data sets, such as RFP/RFQ requirements, procurement history, and agency spending. - Prepare reports, charts, and presentations to inform business development teams. 4. Compliance and Regulations: - Understand and interpret key federal acquisition regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS) and their impact on proposals. - Ensure research aligns with government solicitation requirements and compliance standards. 5. Stakeholder Coordination: - Collaborate with business development, capture management, and technical teams to ensure alignment with research insights. - Attend government contracting webinars, networking events, and conferences to gather real-time market intelligence. Required Skills and Competencies: 1. Analytical and Research Skills: - Proficiency in research methodologies, database tools, and procurement platforms like SAM.gov or GovWin. - Ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights. 2. Technical Expertise: - Familiarity with U.S. public sector contracting processes, including federal, state, and local opportunities. - Experience with tools like Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, or other data visualization software. 3. Communication Skills: - Strong written and verbal communication for preparing clear and concise research summaries and presentations. - Ability to collaborate across departments and articulate research findings effectively. 4. Attention to Detail: - Ensure accuracy in interpreting RFPs, compliance documents, and spending data. - High level of organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
