BDO RISE - Director of Operations (Equivalent to COO) Job Summary: The Director of Operations, BDO RISE, is responsible for leading and managing the operations of the BDO RISE office(s) in India. The individual will be responsible for leading through influence and collaborating with BDO RISE business and service line leaders to deliver Operational Excellence in a cost-effective manner. This position reports directly to the BDO RISE Executive Managing Director (EMD). Direct reports include all BDO RISE operational and administrative management functions (i.e. Core Business Services). In addition, Operations Management will retain a concurrent dotted line relationship to their respective National leads for operational strategy, direction and performance purposes. The position will be based at the BDO RISE office in Bengaluru, India. Job Duties : - Provide vision, leadership, planning, project coordination and management for the design and execution of a cost-effective offshore team at BDO RISE while concurrently facilitating efficient operations to meet current and future business needs of the offshore team. - Ensures consistent and disciplined execution of overall shared services strategy including the evaluation of delivery models and processes. - Lead and integrate the day-to-day operations of the different Core Business Services to achieve operational excellence - Identifies key measures of success for the Core Business Services and ensures continuity and successful delivery against these metrics and services to professionals at the BDO RISE Office(s). - Fosters and maintains positive relationships with cross-functional teams and the business; serves as an interface between internal/external customers and functional team members to ensure effective definition and delivery of services. - Evaluate opportunities to cross-train and share resources across practice teams and optimize utilization during period of seasonal peaks and valleys. - Assesses current service offerings, evaluates current business operations and production efficiencies, and transforms business processes to align with overall service center objectives and goals. - Ensure effective internal controls and compliances with applicable regulatory requirements and provide reasonable assurance to Board Members with respect to their statutory responsibilities - Assist practice leaders (EMD, Directors, Associate Directors) to prioritize work assignments and management of functional team resources and their activities. - Promotes proactive approaches to solve business needs/problems, while also enhancing the understanding and acceptance of the BDO RISE capabilities. - Develops options to leverage partnering, outsourcing and process automation to drive effective service delivery, along with negotiating and monitoring outside providers used in the delivery of services. - Builds and maintains a strong team through effective talent management inclusive of recruiting, training, coaching, team building and succession planning. - Demonstrates a personal commitment to identify business's apparent and underlying needs and continually seeks to provide the highest quality service and product to all BDO RISE professionals. - Represent BDO RISE in the business and educational community to attract good talent in the country. - Analyzes the impact of new service center processes and reengineers existing processes. - Ensure standardized and consistent leverage and usage of technology and tools across the various disciplines at BDO RISE not reinforcing a siloed mindset. - Work with practice leaders from core business services to establish/refine Key SLAs and also manage achievement of agreed to performance measure holding the Operations team accountable for the overall outcomes. - Leads and facilitates all annual financial and strategic planning activities. - Responsible for developing and maintaining operating budgets, working to develop key performance metrics related to financial and operational goals working towards the goal of functioning as an efficient cost center serving the business lines and maximizing the profitability of our firm. - Prepares monthly consolidated status reports to the leadership team; serves as moderator of the monthly conference calls and periodic group meetings. - Builds an operations management team to administer and direct day to day activities and tasks comprised of the operational managers of the business lines and practice areas. Supervisory Responsibilities: - Evaluates the performance and sets goals for direct reports (with input from practice leaders as appropriate) to enhance professional development. - Serves as coach/mentor, supporting the development of RISE professionals. - Discusses staffing recommendations (hires, terminations) with direct reports and participates in the interview process as needed. MBA or equivalent preferred. Experience: - Eighteen (18) or more years of operations experience required, including 5 years of management/supervisory experience and 6-8 years of specific shared services operational/leadership experience - Experience in professional services firms, including law firms, accounting or consulting required in a similar role - Experience in setting-up the operations and facilities of a newly launched business or service line - Experience with developing, implementing and operating or consulting with shared services centers required - Experience with both ISO certification (or like) process and SOC certification Software & Technology: - Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) required - Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint preferred - Familiarity with Digital Transformation, including Robotic Process Automation (RPA) preferred
