Role Purpose:
- The Finance Associate Manager will serve as the primary conduit between the Group's operating company financial controllers and external financing institutions. This role is responsible for structuring, negotiating, and securing financing facilities (working capital, project finance, and capex loans), managing banking relationships, and supporting the execution of investment projects across the Group's mining and non-mining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Banking & Capital Raising:
- Co-lead the process of arranging and securing working capital facilities, capex loans, and project finance
- Act as the primary liaison with local and International commercial banks
- Review financial models, cash flow forecasts, and business plans for loan applications.
- Coordinate due diligence processes, ensuring timely provision of data from finance controllers and operational teams.
- Negotiate terms and conditions of financial agreements to optimize cost of capital and flexibility.
- Arrange working capital facilities and optimize utilization of revolving credit lines, overdrafts, and trade finance instruments.
Internal Coordination:
- Work closely with company-level finance controllers to project manage loan requests (from origination to disbursement)
- Translate operational financing needs into bankable financing structures
- Monitor loan compliance, covenants, and reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of submissions.
- Provide reporting to Management on financing pipelines, liquidity status, and banking relations. Provide reporting to banking partners on underlying company operational performance.
Project & Investment Support:
- Support financing and financial management of new projects (Mining, Mining Services, Manufacturing, Automotive/Logistics, Real Estate, Healthcare, Renewable Energy and FMCG)
- Assist business units in designing financing structures aligned with project timelines and conduct project viability analysis, including capex budgeting, risk assessment, NPV/IRR evaluation, and funding strategy
- Oversee disbursement requests, fund utilization monitoring, and project reporting requirements to lenders.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in corporate banking, project finance, treasury, or corporate finance, ideally within natural resources, infrastructure, or heavy industry sectors.
- Proven track record of arranging working capital loans and capex/development finance.
- Strong understanding of mining sector capital requirements and local financing practices.
Skills & Competencies:
- Financial modeling, forecasting, and valuation expertise.
- Negotiation and relationship management with DRC and Pan African banks and DFIs.
- Deep understanding of loan documentation, covenants, and compliance.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills across corporate, operations, and external lenders.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- High attention to detail with sound commercial judgment.
- Ability to work in multicultural, fast-paced environments.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Timely and cost-effective mobilization of working capital and capex financing.
- Maintenance of strong relationships and credibility with banks/financiers.
- Ensure compliance with debt covenants and reporting obligations.
- Successful financial closure of new projects under development.
- Positive feedback from internal finance controllers and Management on coordination effectiveness.
