Finance Manager

The Role

As a Finance Manager at Avanti Fellows, you will play a key role in managing the organisation's accounting, financial reporting, compliance, controls, and financial operations. Reporting to the CFO, you will ensure that Avanti's financial systems and processes are accurate, compliant, timely, and scalable.

This is an ownership-driven finance role for someone with strong accounting and controllership expertise, a high sense of urgency, and the ability to independently manage deadlines, stakeholders, and financial deliverables.

What You'll Actually Do

Accounting & Financial Controllership

- Manage day-to-day accounting, financial controllership, reconciliations, and financial reporting across the organisation.

- Drive the monthly hard-close process and ensure timely preparation and circulation of accurate MIS reports.

- Manage accounting across multiple cost centres, programs, projects, and financial dimensions.

Audit & Statutory Compliance

- Lead coordination with statutory auditors, including Big 4 / large audit firms, and ensure timely completion of audits and closure of observations.

- Ensure timely compliance with Income Tax, TDS, PF, ESIC, FCRA, and other applicable statutory requirements.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and actual vs. budget variance analysis.

- Provide financial insights and reports to the CFO and leadership team to support decision-making and resource planning.

Fund & Donor Accounting

- Manage accounting and financial reporting for donor-funded programs, including tracking of restricted and unrestricted funds.

- Prepare utilisation certificates, donor reports, and supporting financial documentation as required.

Payroll & Accounts Payable

- Oversee payroll-related accounting and statutory compliance, including PF, ESIC, and TDS requirements.

- Manage Accounts Payable, including vendor invoices, approvals, payments, reconciliations, and outstanding payables.

Treasury & Fixed Assets

- Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, and treasury activities, including timely investment of surplus funds in line with the organisation's investment policy.

- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register (FAR) and ensure proper tracking, verification, and accounting of fixed assets.

ERP & Process Improvement

- Support the implementation and improvement of finance systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, with appropriate cost centres, dimensions, workflows, and reporting structures.

- Build and strengthen internal financial controls, SOPs, approval processes, and systems to improve efficiency and reduce financial risks.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

- Has 10-15 years of experience in accounting and finance, with strong hands-on experience in accounting and controllership.

- Has a Commerce degree, or CA Final; relevant experience and capability will also be considered.

- Has strong experience in statutory audits, preferably with Big 4 / large audit firms, along with knowledge of Income Tax, TDS, FCRA, PF, and ESIC compliance.

- Understands fund accounting, budgeting, forecasting, donor accounting, treasury, AP, and fixed asset management.

- Has experience with ERP implementation or a strong understanding of finance system design, preferably across multiple cost centres and dimensions.

- Has strong MIS, financial analysis, reporting, and internal control capabilities.

- Is comfortable working with Excel/Google Sheets and ERP/accounting systems.
