We are looking for a passionate, visionary, and people-focused Training & Development Lead who will build,
strengthen, and lead our teacher training and coaching ecosystem.
The Head - Learning & Development (L&D) will lead Avanti's internal and partner-focused learning strategy to deepen
instructional excellence, build teacher capabilities, and create scalable learning systems that impact student outcomes.
This is a strategic leadership role spanning learning design, capacity building, performance improvement, and
stakeholder enablement.
You will spend approximately:
- 30% on program strategy and delivery: Design the overarching L&D strategy and create scalable learning frameworks aligned with organizational goals.
- 25% on training design, implementation & facilitation: Develop high-impact training modules and ensure effective delivery through workshops, coaching, and digital learning formats.
- 20% on stakeholder and partnership development: Build and manage relationships with internal and external partners to strengthen L&D initiatives and unlock collaboration opportunities.
- 15% on team leadership and capability development: Lead, coach, and upskill the L&D team to ensure strong execution and continuous professional growth.
- 10% on research, data and thought leadership: Utilize data insights and emerging learning trends to continuously refine programs and position Avanti as a thought leader in L&D.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO
- Learning Strategy & Program Design
- Build a long-term L&D strategy aligned to instructional quality goals.
- Design competency frameworks, capability ladders, and growth pathways for academic and training teams.
- Develop differentiated L&D interventions for new and experienced educators.
Training Design & Delivery:
- Create training curricula, digital learning modules, and toolkits for STEM teachers and academic leaders.
- Design and deliver meaningful and impactful teacher training programs that elevate classroom quality and student outcomes.
- Coach and guide Academic/Program Managers to enhance their capacity to mentor and support teachers.
- Conduct a thorough Training Needs Analysis (TNA) including baseline, midline, and endline assessments.
- Track and measure training effectiveness through clear metrics, observation cycles, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with HR, Academics, and Operations to ensure seamless implementation across all centres.
- Innovate and introduce new training methodologies, tools, and practices to strengthen professional development
- Facilitate training sessions, coaching models, demo lessons, and classroom observations.
- Establish quality benchmarks and rubrics for classroom instruction.
Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Drive capability-building initiatives with government bodies, CSR partners, and academic collaborators.
- Represent Avanti in discussions related to teacher development, pedagogy, and learning innovation.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR?
Must-Haves
Experience:
- 10-15 years of experience in education, L&D, capability building or instructional leadership.
- 5-7 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong background in teaching/teacher training, pedagogy, curriculum design or educational program leadership.
- Experience in designing and scaling learning programs across diverse regions.
- Comfort working with government and CSR partners (preferred).
