Role Overview:
To lead procurement strategy, vendor development, and sourcing excellence for the Solar Energy business. This leadership role requires deep expertise in procurement of critical solar components, engineering equipment, and services, with strong vendor partnerships and cost-optimisation acumen to drive business competitiveness.
Role & responsibilities :
Strategic Procurement & Sourcing:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives for solar EPC projects.
- Lead negotiations and finalise contracts for critical solar modules, inverters, structures, cables, transformers, and BoP items.
- Establish long-term partnerships with global and domestic suppliers to ensure security of supply, quality, and competitive pricing.
Vendor Development & Management:
- Build and manage a robust vendor base, ensuring supplier diversity, sustainability, and compliance.
- Evaluate supplier performance and ensure adherence to quality, timelines, and contractual commitments.
Commercial Excellence:
- Drive cost optimisation through strategic negotiations, bulk procurement, localisation, and alternate sourcing.
- Benchmark prices, analyse market trends, and anticipate supply chain risks.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead and mentor the procurement team across corporate and site functions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams Engineering, Projects, Finance, Legal, and Operations.-
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure procurement practices comply with corporate governance, statutory regulations, and sustainability goals.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate supply chain risks proactively.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of solar energy procurement, EPC contracts, and renewable energy supply chain.
- Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and commercial acumen.
- Strategic thinking with ability to balance cost, quality, and timelines.
- Leadership skills with ability to drive performance in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering; MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain/Operations preferred.
- 15-22 years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 8 -10 years in leadership roles.
- Proven track record in procurement for large-scale solar/renewable energy projects.
- Exposure to global sourcing and vendor development in renewable energy preferred.
