Manager Accounting, Assurant-GCC, India

- The Manager, Accounting, leads a team of accounting professionals responsible for executing accurate and timely financial close activities, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and ensuring strong internal controls.


- This role supports financial integrity and transparency while partnering closely with accounting management, financial analysts, marketing, operations, actuarial and other functional areas to ensure all information is received and entered accurately while providing management and auditors.


- This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of operational activities including but not limited to client disbursements, journal entries and account reconciliations, along with other projects focused on creating operational efficiencies. This position will be Bangalore/Chennai/Hyderabad at our India location.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Accounting Operations 70%


- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.

- Ensure accurate financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP/IFRS and internal policies.

- Review and approve key accounting schedules and deliverables, including balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation.

- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and ensuring timely, clean audit outcomes.

- Monitor disbursements to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of client-facing requests.

- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.

- Collaborate with internal teams to align accounting results with business drivers and support planning, reporting, and decision-making.

- Provide accounting insight into new processes, initiatives, or transactions.

- Lead or support special projects and ad hoc requests as needed to meet evolving departmental and company needs.

Team leadership 30%

- Lead, coach, and develop team members, setting clear expectations and fostering growth.

- Assign work, review output, and ensure timely completion of responsibilities.


- Foster a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.

- Collaborate with other finance leaders to support department-wide goals and initiatives.

- Uphold confidentiality standards and protect sensitive financial information.

Number of Direct Reports: Approximately 5 to 7.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

- 5 + years of progressive accounting experience.

- 3 + years experience in leading or mentoring others in a team environment.

- Strong understanding or accounting principles and internal controls.

- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, detailed oriented.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Excel and Word.

- PeopleSoft, Oracle or Smartstream general ledger experience preferred.

- Good work ethics.
