About the Role:

The Associate Manager - Taxation will support the Finance team in managing day-to-day direct and indirect tax compliances. This role is designed for a detail-oriented professional who can assist in tax filings, reconciliations, and responding to departmental queries within a fast-paced retail/e-commerce environment.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Tax Compliance & Reporting

- Assist in the timely and accurate filing of all direct and indirect tax returns, including GST, TDS, and Income Tax.

- Perform monthly reconciliations of tax ledgers with financial statements.

- Support the preparation of tax provisions and disclosures for statutory financial statements.

- Monitor daily GST/VAT and withholding tax requirements to ensure zero-lapse compliance.

2. Litigation & Documentation

- Assist in drafting responses to tax notices, enquiries, and show-cause notices.

- Maintain and update litigation trackers to monitor potential financial exposures.

- Collate data and documentation required for tax assessments, audits, and inspections.

3. Operational Support & Risk Management

- Execute internal tax controls and follow established SOPs to mitigate operational risks.

- Stay updated on recent changes in tax laws and assist in assessing their impact on business operations.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Supply Chain) to resolve tax-related transactional queries.

Signs of a fit:

- Education: Chartered Accountant (CA).

- Experience: 0-2 years of post-qualification experience in direct and indirect taxation.

Must-Have Skills:

- Foundational knowledge of GST, TDS, and TCS.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data reconciliation and tax accounting.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a high-growth environment.

Good-to-Have Skills:

- Experience in a goods-based industry (Retail, FMCG, or E-commerce).

- Familiarity with tax ERP modules or specialized tax software
