Position Overview: The AGM, Accounting & Finance will oversee the financial activities of the Groups power generation assets, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and providing accurate financial reporting to be compliant with Ind AS. This role requires a deep understanding of the power business, particularly gas-fired operations, to effectively manage the plant's accounting functions and support strategic financial decision-making
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Responsible for all aspects of financial management including the finalisation of accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis such as Cost Vs variance analysis, reconciliation with DISCOMS/CLIENT, knowledge of DSM regulations etc.,
- Analyse financial performance, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization and provide actionable insights to senior management.
- Monitor financial metrics specific to the energy sector. Should be able to prepare financial proposal to be submitted to banks including the CMA data, project report, DSCR, Cash budgeting report etc including the projections basis the actual trends to align with industry/sector trends.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Collaborate with plant operations to create accurate and realistic financial forecasts in terms of Budgets, Costing and operating financial indicators.
- Manage financial aspects of offtake agreements and power purchase agreements (PPAs) and provide strategic insights to senior management.
Cost Management:
- Oversee cost accounting activities, including tracking and reporting on fuel costs, maintenance expenses, and operational efficiencies.
- Implement strategies for cost control and reduction without compromising plant performance.
- Analyse and report on key cost drivers and KPIs, such as variable and fixed O&M costs per MWh.
Compliance & Regulatory:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial and industry regulations such GST, Income Tax, ESIC/PF authoirities etc.,
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required.
- Liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies during inspections and audits.
Internal Controls, Processes, and Risk Management:
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Streamline accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions related to energy trading and hedging activities.
- Implement best practices for risk management, including market risk, credit risk, and operational risk.
- Ensure compliance pertaining to all statutory regulations including IT/GST/ DISCOMS etc
Team Leadership & Development:
- Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure financial alignment with operational goals.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration to support financial planning and analysis for major capital projects and operational initiatives.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelors or masters degree in accounting or finance along with professional accounting qualification (CA).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance in the core energy sector or power industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis of both GAAP and Ind AS.
- Proficiency in accounting software, Advanced Excel including Power BI and Excel Dash board for MIS reporting and ERP systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization and external contacts.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected changes and demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
- Language: Command over English, Telugu, and Hindi.
- Understanding of fuel efficiency ratios, heat rates, capacity utilization, and Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE).
