About the Role
We are seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented Equity Research Associate to support an offshore buy-side investment team. The role involves deep fundamental research, financial modeling, industry analysis, and investment idea generation across listed companies in Indian markets. You will work closely with portfolio managers and senior analysts on idea screening, valuation, and monitoring coverage companies.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Research & Analysis
- Conduct bottom-up fundamental analysis on assigned companies/sectors.
- Build, maintain, and update detailed financial models, including revenue drivers, cost structures, FCF forecasts, and scenario analyses.
- Perform valuation exercises (DCF, comps, SOTP, dividend discount, precedent transactions).
- Track company KPIs, quarterly results, management commentary, and industry news.
Industry & Market Intelligence
- Prepare deep-dive sector research, competitive benchmarking, and thematic reports.
- Analyze macroeconomic trends, regulatory developments, and their impact on coverage industries.
Idea Generation & Portfolio Support
- Participate in idea screening and preliminary investment thesis development.
- Provide analytics to support portfolio construction, risk assessment, and position monitoring.
- Conduct channel checks, data analysis, and alternative datasets research (where applicable).
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare concise investment notes, earnings summaries, and valuation updates for PMs and senior analysts.
- Present research findings and insights during internal calls and review discussions.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- MBA/CA/CFA (or progress towards CFA) strongly preferred.
- 1-4 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, private equity, transaction advisory, valuation consulting or asset management.
- Strong command of financial modeling, accounting concepts, valuation methods, and investment analysis.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Bloomberg/FactSet/Capital IQ (preferred).
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize complex data clearly.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to manage tight deadlines across time zones.
