About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced logistics operations professional who understands how logistics businesses operate on the ground.

The role will focus on studying operational workflows, identifying inefficiencies, understanding persistent industry challenges and evaluating opportunities to improve productivity, cost efficiency and service quality.

You will engage with logistics professionals across different functions, document real-world operational challenges and help identify opportunities for new operational solutions, services or technology-enabled businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Logistics Operations Research:

- Conduct structured interviews with at least 20 logistics professionals across warehouse operations, transportation, dispatch, inventory, fulfilment and last-mile delivery.

- Understand existing workflows, operational dependencies, bottlenecks and recurring execution challenges.

- Study how teams use spreadsheets, calls, messaging applications and existing software to manage daily operations.

2. Process Analysis and Improvement:

- Identify process inefficiencies, avoidable costs, delays, repetitive manual work and coordination gaps.

- Analyse root causes of operational issues rather than merely documenting symptoms.

- Evaluate opportunities to improve turnaround time, resource utilisation, shipment visibility and service levels.

- Document current processes and recommend practical improvements.

3. Operational Opportunity Identification:

- Identify recurring problems across different logistics businesses and operating models.

- Assess the potential impact of automation, workflow redesign and technology-enabled interventions.

- Compare existing practices and solutions to identify unmet operational needs.

- Prioritise opportunities based on frequency, business impact, feasibility and scalability.

4. Analysis and Recommendations:

- Prepare structured reports covering interview findings and operational problem areas.

- Quantify potential savings or productivity improvements wherever reliable data is available.

- Recommend the three most promising opportunities for further investigation.

- Develop a practical action plan for validating the highest-priority opportunity.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

- 12 - 15 years of hands-on experience in logistics operations, warehouse management, transportation, supply chain, fulfilment, dispatch or 3PL operations.

- Experience in roles such as Logistics Operations Manager, Warehouse Operations Manager, Transport Operations Manager, Supply Chain Operations Manager or Process Excellence Manager.

- Strong understanding of operational KPIs, including turnaround time, cost per shipment, order fulfilment, inventory accuracy, vehicle utilisation and on-time delivery.

- Experience in process improvement, root-cause analysis and operational problem-solving.

- Comfortable interacting with frontline employees, supervisors and operations leaders.

- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.

- Experience with TMS, WMS, ERP or logistics automation tools is an advantage.

Success Measures:

Performance will be assessed on the quality of operational insights, depth of root-cause analysis, evidence supporting the identified problems, and the practicality of the final recommendations.
