Job Title: Director / Associate Director - Pricing.
Location: Bangalore.
Position Summary:
- As Director / Associate Director of Pricing, you will lead the end-to-end pricing strategy and operations across the platform.
- You will manage a large pricing and analytics team, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and develop intelligent pricing models that balance competitiveness with profitability.
- This role is mission-critical for driving margin optimization and sustained business growth in a dynamic and competitive commodity environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Pricing Strategy & Execution:
- Design and implement pricing strategies tailored for both B2B and B2C channels, across diverse steel and metal products.
- Develop dynamic pricing frameworks based on input costs, market volatility, customer segmentation, competitor analysis, and sales objectives.
- Ensure consistent pricing logic across SKUs, channels, and regions while maintaining strategic flexibility.
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a pricing and analytics team of 25+ professionals, including pricing analysts, data scientists, and pricing operations specialists.
- Foster a performance-driven culture of collaboration, ownership, and data-based decision-making.
- Build scalable pricing processes, governance frameworks, and team structures to support national and international expansion.
Market Intelligence & Insights:
- Monitor market trends, commodity price indices, and competitor pricing movements to anticipate shifts and recalibrate pricing in real time.
- Collaborate with the procurement and category teams to translate cost insights into proactive pricing moves.
Analytics, Modeling & Tools:
- Own pricing analytics dashboards and tools to track revenue realization, price elasticity, gross margins, discounting patterns, and customer churn.
- Work closely with product and engineering to build pricing engines and automation models.
- Integrate pricing models with ERP/CRM systems to enable real-time, rule-based pricing decisions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with Sales, Category Management, Finance, Product, and Tech teams to align pricing with business objectives and market positioning.
- Support strategic initiatives such as new product launches, regional pricing experiments, and enterprise contract negotiations.
Governance & Compliance:
- Establish pricing approval processes and compliance checks to prevent pricing errors and revenue leakage.
- Develop audit mechanisms and controls to ensure policy adherence across all regions and channels.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or MBA from a Tier 1 institution (IIMs, ISB, XLRI, FMS, SPJIMR, etc.) strongly preferred.
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in pricing, revenue management, or strategic finance roles.
- Proven experience managing and scaling a pricing team of at least 25 professionals.
- Background in E-commerce, Commodities, Industrial B2B, or Steel/Metals sector preferred.
- Strong grasp of cost structures, channel dynamics, and customer pricing psychology.
Key Skills & Tools:
- Deep expertise in pricing strategy, financial modeling, and revenue optimization.
- Strong command of data analytics (Excel, SQL, Python or R is a plus).
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle), pricing tools (Vendavo, PROS, Zilliant), and business intelligence platforms (Tableau, Power BI).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-complexity environments with changing market dynamics.
