Key Responsibilities :

Build and Lead a High-Performing Team & Strengthen Infrastructure:


- Establish a strong and capable team of researchers, technical experts, and support staff by attracting top talent. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration while ensuring the necessary infrastructure (labs, IT systems, research facilities) is in place and continually upgraded to support cutting-edge research.

Develop Strategic Partnerships:

- Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with government ministries, industry leaders, donor agencies, academic institutions, and civil society organizations. Build a network that enhances collaborative research, policy development, and knowledge exchange. Act as the primary interface between the Institute and external stakeholders.

Map Opportunities & Mobilize Funding:

- Identify emerging trends and opportunities in energy transition research, policy, and technology. Develop and implement strategies to mobilize financial resources from national and international government programs, development agencies, private sector partners, and research grants to support high-impact projects.

Drive Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration & Knowledge Dissemination:

- Facilitate collaboration between industry experts, academic researchers, policy makers, and civil society to co-create innovative solutions for energy transition challenges. Promote regular workshops, conferences, publications, and stakeholder consultations to ensure research outputs are shared widely and contribute to informed decision-making.

Lead Branding and External Communication:

- Establish and promote the Institute's brand as a thought leader in energy transition research. Lead efforts for external communications, including website management, media engagement, public relations, and social media presence to raise the Institute's visibility in India and globally.

Ensure Robust Governance Practices:

- Implement sound governance and administrative systems that ensure transparency, accountability, and regulatory compliance. Monitor operational efficiency and adherence to organizational policies, and report performance to org's leadership and stakeholders.

Develop a Long-Term Vision and Roadmap:

-Formulate a clear strategic vision and a multi-year roadmap that aligns with India's energy transition goals and org's mission of sustainability. Prioritize research focus areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy storage, climate modelling, and bioenergy, in alignment with national and global priorities.

Leverage Company's Talent Pool:

- Collaborate effectively with org's research teams in New Delhi and other regional centres to create synergies and avoid duplication of effort. Encourage cross-centre research projects and optimize human resources across locations for maximum impact.

Plan and Strengthen Campus Infrastructure & Human Capital:

- Oversee the planning and development of physical infrastructure (laboratories, office spaces, IT systems) required for advanced research and academic collaboration. Focus on building human capital through hiring, training, and skill development of researchers and support staff to maintain high institutional standards.

Lead Strategy Formulation in Consultation with the Leadership:

- Work closely with the Director General and org's Executive Team to co-create strategies that align with org's broader goals and India's sustainable development mission. Ensure that the institute's plans are pragmatic, measurable, and aligned with global best practices in energy transition research.

Educational Qualification:

Ph.D or M.Tech in Energy, Economics, Climate science, Sustainability, Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, or Bioenergy sectors from a reputed University.

Experience: 15+ years of relevant experience

Skills:

- Proven institutional leadership & institution-building capabilities.

- Extensive exposure to government, industry, and donor agency frameworks.

- Strong networking, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

- Excellent writing, communication, and strategic thinking abilities.

- Ability to multitask, adapt to evolving challenges, and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

- Visionary with long-term strategic outlook.
