Role Overview:
As the AVP/VP - Risk Policy (Home Loan), you will be a key driver in shaping and implementing the credit risk strategy for our home loan portfolio. You will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and maintaining credit policies and procedures that align with the organization's risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
This role involves collaborating closely with various stakeholders, including credit risk, business, operations, and compliance teams, to ensure effective risk management practices. Your work will directly impact the quality of our loan portfolio, contributing to sustainable growth and profitability while safeguarding the organization from potential losses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive credit risk policies and procedures for the home loan portfolio, ensuring alignment with regulatory guidelines and the organization's risk appetite.
- Conduct regular reviews of existing credit policies to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes to enhance risk management effectiveness.
- Analyze portfolio performance data to identify emerging trends and potential risks, and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with the credit risk team to develop and implement risk models and scoring systems for assessing creditworthiness of loan applicants.
- Provide guidance and support to business and operations teams on credit policy related matters, ensuring consistent application of policies across the organization.
- Monitor and track key risk indicators (KRIs) to identify potential breaches of risk tolerance levels and escalate issues to senior management as needed.
- Conduct training programs for relevant stakeholders on credit policies and procedures to enhance their understanding and compliance.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and regulatory changes related to credit risk management and incorporate them into the organization's policies and procedures.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement credit risk policies and procedures for home loans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Proven ability to analyze portfolio performance data, identify emerging trends, and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex information to senior management.
- Deep understanding of credit risk management principles, including credit scoring, risk modeling, and portfolio management techniques.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., FRM, CFA) preferred.
- Adaptability to work in a dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
