Role Overview:
The AVP- Underwriting role is a critical position responsible for assessing and mitigating credit risk associated with loan applications and investment opportunities. This role involves a deep dive into financial statements, market analysis, and industry trends to determine the viability and profitability of potential deals. The AVP will collaborate closely with relationship managers, credit analysts, and legal counsel to structure transactions that align with the firm's risk appetite and strategic objectives. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the quality and performance of the loan portfolio, directly impacting the firm's financial stability and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the creditworthiness of potential borrowers by analyzing financial statements, conducting industry research, and assessing management capabilities.
- Structure loan transactions and negotiate terms with clients to optimize risk-adjusted returns for the firm.
- Prepare detailed credit memos and present recommendations to credit committees to secure approval for loan proposals.
- Monitor the performance of existing loan portfolio to identify potential risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
- Develop and maintain underwriting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal guidelines.
- Mentor and train junior underwriting staff to enhance their skills and contribute to their professional development.
- Collaborate with legal counsel to ensure loan documentation accurately reflects agreed-upon terms and conditions.

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
