The Role: We are looking for an Assistant Vice President - Marketplace Business to own and scale the marketplace business across Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, and emerging e-commerce platforms. This is a revenue-owning leadership role with direct ownership of marketplace growth, profitability, strategy, and execution. You will work closely with the founders and play a critical role in taking the marketplace business to the next level. This is not a marketplace operations role. Marketplace Growth & P&L: - Own the overall marketplace P&L, revenue, contribution margin, and growth targets. - Develop and execute the strategy to rapidly scale marketplace revenue while maintaining healthy unit economics. - Identify the biggest growth levers across platforms, categories, products, pricing, promotions, advertising, and assortment. - Build the roadmap to scale the business into a 500 Cr+ marketplace business. 2. Marketplace Strategy: - Define the marketplace strategy across Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, and emerging platforms. - Drive category expansion, new product launches, assortment strategy, pricing architecture, and promotional strategy. - Build a strong understanding of marketplace algorithms, search, ranking, advertising, conversion, reviews, and customer acquisition. - Stay ahead of category trends and competitive moves and translate them into actionable growth initiatives. 3. Marketplace Partnerships: - Build and leverage strong relationships with senior category and business teams across key marketplaces. - Unlock strategic partnerships, visibility opportunities, platform campaigns, launches, and exclusive initiatives. - Position the company as a high-priority growth partner within key marketplace ecosystems. 4. Execution Excellence: - Build best-in-class marketplace execution across cataloguing, content, merchandising, discoverability, conversion, ratings/reviews, inventory, pricing, and promotions. - Establish rigorous dashboards and operating mechanisms to track revenue, profitability, inventory, advertising efficiency, and platform-level performance. - Identify bottlenecks quickly and drive cross-functional teams to resolve them. 5. Team Building: - Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing marketplace team. - Create clear ownership, targets, processes, and operating rhythms. - Develop a team capable of independently managing a rapidly scaling marketplace business. Who We're Looking For: This role is for a proven marketplace growth leader, not a marketplace operations manager. - 5 - 10 years of relevant experience in e-commerce / marketplace / D2C businesses. - Proven track record of scaling a D2C brand significantly through marketplaces. - Ideally, experience of being a key contributor or team leader in scaling a marketplace business to 500 Cr+ annual revenue run rate. - Strong hands-on experience with Amazon and Flipkart; experience with Meesho and other marketplaces is a plus. - Demonstrated ownership of revenue, P&L, growth, and profitability. - Strong understanding of marketplace growth levers including advertising, search/ranking, conversion, pricing, promotions, assortment, inventory, and cataloguing. - Strong relationships with marketplace category/business teams will be a significant advantage. - Highly analytical, commercially sharp, and deeply execution-oriented. - Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong bias for ownership, speed, and results. - Comfortable working directly with founders and operating in a high-growth startup environment. A Strong Preference: We will strongly prefer candidates who can point to specific, measurable marketplace outcomes they have personally driven - for example: - Scaled marketplace revenue from X Cr to Y Cr - Built a 500 Cr+ marketplace business - Grew Amazon business Xx while improving contribution margin We are looking for builders who have done it before, not just managers who have managed the process.
