Short Description

The incumbent would lead a category of cargo segment from an underwriting perspective, would be responsible for topline in the form of business growth & market share and bottom line in the form of loss ratio & ultimately in the form of combined ratio.

Job Accountabilities

- Managing all complex underwriting quotes and/or proposals of that specific cargo segment

- Handling reinsurance aspects of that segment

- Create underwriting guidelines and information sheets for various cargo forms part of that segment

- Innovation in the underwriting approach to structure policy designed to suit the exact requirements of insureds and/or intermediaries.

- Identifying niche pockets within the segment for potential and sustainable business growth

- Monitoring claims and loss reserves of the segment and working in synergy with the claims team to optimise loss reserves of that segment

- Seamless working with the marine risk management team for controlling and managing losses for further improvement of the bottom line

- To lead interactions with internal stakeholders and partners for speedy resolutions of identified issues

- Preparation of MIS reports for management review, highlighting concern areas and monitoring product management to ensure profitability.

The incumbent would also specifically handle:

- Any projects, at the product level or function level or organisational level.

- Create working cohesiveness with the regional team for the growth of the allocated segment.

- Create a risk register of various cargoes forming part of that segment.

Skills Required (Knowledge and Skills):

- Expert knowledge of marine cargo as a product.

- Good working knowledge of MS Office - Word, XL and PPT.

- Very Good communication skills both written and oral.

- Attitude to learn new things.

- Assertiveness in the execution of various projects.

Key Attributes:

- Total of 10+ years of Industry experience.

- Core 7+ years of work experience in marine cargo underwriting.
