Purpose of the Role: The Asst. Vice President will play a pivotal role in providing operational and strategic support to the company, with a specific focus on driving the development and business growth of Renewable Energy (RE) and RE Hybrid Projects. Reporting directly to senior management, this position will oversee all aspects of project development and business expansion within the renewable energy sector.
Key Result Areas:
1. Project Development and Business Expansion: Lead the conceptualization, development, and management of wind, solar, hybrid, and battery storage projects, from greenfield to acquisition stages. Additionally, drive business development initiatives to identify and capitalize on opportunities for growth and market expansion.
2. Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain effective communication channels with internal stakeholders and external partners, including utility and non-utility off-take origination, transmission, legal, project finance, engineering, procurement, construction, and regulatory authorities, to ensure project success and minimize risks.
3. Regulatory Compliance and Permitting: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and secure necessary permits throughout the project lifecycle. Liaise with state and central regulatory bodies, as well as local authorities, to facilitate project approvals and environmental clearances.
4. Market Analysis and Strategy: Stay abreast of market trends, industry developments, and technological advancements in the renewable energy sector. Utilize market insights to inform strategic decision-making and identify opportunities for innovation and growth.
5. Financial Management: Manage project budgets, objectives, schedules, and deliverables to ensure financial viability and project success. Drive value optimization and cost control measures to enhance project profitability and maximize returns on investment.
6. Contract Management and Vendor Relations: Oversee the negotiation and management of contracts with contractors, vendors, and consultants. Foster positive and collaborative relationships with external partners to maintain project timelines, quality standards, and budgetary constraints.
7. Community Engagement and Corporate Social Responsibility: Engage with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to garner support for project development initiatives. Implement corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to promote sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
Must-Have Qualifications and Skills:
1. Industry Expertise: Extensive knowledge and experience in the renewable energy market, with a proven track record of successfully developing and executing renewable energy projects from concept to commissioning.
2. Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management. Capable of providing clear direction, guidance, and support to achieve strategic objectives.
3. Regulatory Acumen: In-depth understanding of power regulatory frameworks and environmental regulations in India. Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
4. Analytical Thinking: Strategic thinker with the ability to analyse complex issues, identify opportunities, and develop innovative solutions. Proficient in conducting risk analysis, valuation, and due diligence to assess project feasibility and viability.
5. Financial Management: Demonstrated proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and financial analysis. Experience in managing project budgets, forecasting financial performance, and optimizing project economics.
6. Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Effective in negotiating and influencing key decision-makers to achieve desired outcomes.
7. Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in engineering (ideally with MBA) with a minimum of 15 years of post-qualification work experience, more of it in the renewable energy sector.
Reporting Structure: The Asst. Vice President will report to the Sr. VP and will work collaboratively with the executive leadership team to drive the company's strategic objectives and achieve sustainable growth in the renewable energy sector.
