Description: The Assistant Manager Production is responsible for overseeing the technical, quality, and cost-effective manufacturing of chemical dispersions. The role emphasizes plant and process safety, health, and environmental compliance, ensuring operational excellence and adherence to statutory requirements. The position requires leading a shift team, driving process improvements, and maintaining a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Process Management:
- Coordinate and manage shift production to achieve consistent quality and production targets.
- Drive continuous process improvements to reduce batch cycle times, increase yields, and optimize operational efficiency.
- Guide and mentor officers and operators to ensure product quality meets international standards.
- Maintain production documentation in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Safety, Health & Environment (SHE):
- Implement and monitor plant Safety, Health, and Environmental systems for personnel and equipment.
- Act as shift incident/emergency controller during off-hours, ensuring rapid and effective response.
- Promote a strong safety culture among shop floor personnel, including Responsible Care practices, 5S, PPE compliance, and discipline.
- Train plant personnel on SHE practices, chemical handling, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for raw materials and finished products.
- Ensure all plant emissions and discharges comply with statutory limits and maintain hygiene and occupational health standards.
- Represent the plant in EHS-related matters for the shift and maintain documentation for compliance audits.
Process Safety & Quality Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001 standards.
- Maintain compliance with process safety and environmental protection codes.
- Document Responsible Care requirements on a continual basis.
- Monitor and guide the team in proper work permit systems and operational protocols for hazardous chemicals.
Team Leadership & Training:
- Lead, coach, and develop plant personnel to ensure high performance, safety awareness, and quality standards.
- Facilitate training on SHE, process safety, and operational best practices.
- Support the implementation of cost-effective production strategies while maintaining product quality.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes and operations management.
- Understanding of safety, health, and environmental regulations in chemical plants.
- Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to guide shop floor personnel.
- Analytical mindset for process optimization and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and training abilities.
- Familiarity with ISO standards (9001, 14001, 50001) and responsible care practices.
