Assistant Manager - New Product Development - Automotive

Role Purpose

Manage and drive new product development projects from RFQ to SOP by coordinating with customers and cross-functional teams, ensuring timely project execution, quality compliance, and successful product launches.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

- Conduct technical presentations to customers on product feasibility and RFQs

- Coordinate new tool trials and work closely with design engineers for tool and product analysis

- Lead preparation and submission of documents such as CP, PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, MSA, PSW as per customer requirements

- Oversee project management activities including daily monitoring and periodic reviews with senior management and CFT

- Ensure on-time launch of new projects as per agreed timelines

- Coordinate with customers and internal cross-functional teams for successful PPAP and PSW approvals

- Track project milestones, deliverables, risks, and corrective actions

- Ensure projects are completed within approved budget, scope, and timelines

- Act as the single point of contact for customers during the NPD lifecycle

- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 standards and customer-specific requirements

Key Result Areas (KRAs):

- On-time completion and launch of new product development projects

- Successful PPAP and PSW approvals with zero or minimal rejections

- Adherence to project budgets and cost targets

- Effective coordination and alignment with cross-functional teams

- Customer satisfaction through timely communication and issue resolution

- Compliance to quality systems, standards, and audit requirements

- Reduction in development issues, rework, and launch delays

Qualifications:

- MBA and Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical discipline

Experience Requirements:

- 8 - 12 years of experience in project management or NPD within the automotive industry

- Experience working with OEMs, Tier-1, or Tier-2 automotive suppliers

- Hands-on exposure to APQP, PPAP, PSW, Control Plan, FMEA, and MSA

- Working knowledge of IATF 16949 standards

- Exposure to VDA 6.3 audits preferred
