Description:
Location: Mumbai (Head Office).
Employment: Full-time, Permanent.
Reports to: General Manager.
Supervises: N/A.
Travel: 13 trips/year to assigned markets.
Job Summary:
This is a core function within Pricing and Revenue Management responsible for maximizing revenue and yield (RASK) through disciplined pricing, fare filing, and inventory strategy. The role partners closely with Sales, Network Planning, and Group Sales to deliver revenue targets while maintaining a consistent pricing policy and smooth fare ladders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Revenue and yield delivery.
- Achieve revenue and RASK targets for assigned markets/routes.
- Monitor performance vs KPIs; recommend corrective actions.
- Pricing policy and fare integrity.
- Ensure accurate fares in the system in line with current pricing policies.
- Maintain a smooth pricing ladder across cabins/buckets per defined logic.
- Conduct periodic reviews to identify gaps, anomalies, and opportunities.
- Inventory strategy.
- Co-create fare class and inventory strategies with the Reporting Manager; drive implementation.
- Optimize booking curves, manage overbooking settings, and adjust controls based on demand signals.
- Continuous review and planning inputs.
- Run periodic pricing and inventory strategy reviews; document insights and actions.
- Provide feedback to Network Planning based on sales inputs and internal review outcomes (e.g., schedule, capacity, timings).
- Group business management.
- Formulate group rate policy with the Group Analyst; track adherence and outcomes.
- Conduct periodic follow-ups and reviews on group performance and displacement impacts.
- Forward bookings and KPI adherence.
- Meet forward booked load targets set in KPIs; track pace vs last year/plan/competitors.
- Recommend tactical initiatives (fare sales, fences, RM controls) to close gaps.
Desired Qualifications and Certifications:
- Post Graduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, or Management Studies.
- Advanced Excel proficiency required; exposure to SQL/Python is a plus.
- Training/certifications in revenue management, pricing analytics, or data analysis preferred.
Preferred Relevant Experience:
- 8-12 years of hands-on revenue management experience, preferably in airlines/aviation.
- Strong understanding of airline pricing mechanics, fare filing, and competitive dynamics.
- Familiarity with inventory management techniques and booking class controls.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Deep knowledge of how airline pricing works (fare structures, fences, distribution).
- Familiarity with inventory management techniques (demand forecasting, EMSR, OD control).
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel; ability to analyze large datasets and build models.
- Statistical acumen and experience with forecasting is an added advantage.
- Analytical problem-solving, business judgment, attention to detail, and clear communication.
Success Metrics:
- Revenue/RASK target attainment for assigned markets.
- Forward-booked load factor and revenue pace vs plan.
- Fare integrity and pricing ladder smoothness (low error/anomaly rate).
- Effectiveness of inventory strategy (spill/capture, minimal spoilage).
- Group policy performance and displacement control.
Work Mode and Travel: Based at Mumbai HQ; limited travel (13 trips/year) to understand ground realities in assigned markets.
