Assistant Manager - Direct Tax - CA

Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Assistant Manager to join our dynamic tax team. In this role, you will serve as a key subject matter expert, managing complex direct tax portfolios and navigating intricate regulatory landscapes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional finance teams, external consultants, and senior stakeholders to ensure seamless tax compliance and strategic tax planning. Your work will directly influence the organizations financial health by mitigating tax risks, optimizing effective tax rates, and representing the companys interests during litigation proceedings, ultimately safeguarding the firms bottom line.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee end-to-end direct tax compliance for domestic and international entities to ensure adherence to statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements.

- Lead litigation strategy by drafting submissions, appearing before tax authorities, and coordinating with legal counsel to resolve disputes efficiently.

- Manage transfer pricing documentation and benchmarking studies to ensure arms length compliance and minimize exposure to transfer pricing audits.

- Provide strategic tax advisory to internal business units on new projects and transactions to optimize tax efficiency and ensure regulatory alignment.

- Monitor changes in tax legislation and proactively communicate potential impacts to leadership to facilitate informed decision-making.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrate deep technical proficiency in the Income Tax Act, with a proven track record of handling complex assessments and appellate proceedings.

- Exhibit strong analytical capabilities in managing transfer pricing frameworks and interpreting evolving tax policies.

- Communicate complex tax concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders, fostering collaborative relationships across the organization.

- Possess a Chartered Accountancy (CA) qualification or an equivalent professional degree with 7 - 15 years of progressive experience in direct taxation.

- Adapt seamlessly to a hybrid work environment, maintaining high productivity and attention to detail while managing multiple high-priority deadlines.
