Location: Pune


Experience: 10 + years


Shift: General Day Shift


Working days: Hybrid (2-3 times a week)


Must Have:


- 10+ years in Statutory Compliance


- PAN India experience and not limited to a specific location. Multiple states/geographies.


- Handled a team (exp. of 2 years min.)


- PF Management and Labour Compliance


- Audit Inspection


- Not only PF ESIC expertise but also Strong audit skills, Audit inspections with govt. authorities


- Should be aware about recent changes in PF and should have knowledge in OT, NFH and leaves.


- Should come from only IT/ ITES background/ BPO, GCEE/ any service industry and not Manufacturing industry.


JOB DETAILS:


We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable HR Labour Compliance Assistant/Deputy Manager to join our team HR Compliance Team in India. The ideal candidate will bring over 10 years of hands-on experience in labour compliance, a deep understanding of Indian labour laws, and a passion for fostering a fair, ethical, and compliant workplace. This position reports to the Head of Statutory Compliance.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Statutory Compliance & Advisory


- Act as the subject matter expert on Indian labour laws affecting the IT/ITES sector (including but not limited to: Factories Act, Shops & Establishments Act, Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act, Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, Payment of Gratuity Act, EPF & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, Employees' State Insurance Act, Maternity Benefit Act, Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, Industrial Disputes Act, Apprentices Act).


- Monitor, interpret, and communicate changes in labour legislation and assess their impact on business operations.


- Offer expert guidance and recommendations to HR partners, management, and employees on all matters of labour compliance.


- Draft, review, and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks to ensure alignment with statutory requirements.


Audits & Inspections


- Conduct regular internal audits of HR practices, records, and systems for compliance assurance.


- Coordinate and manage external audits and inspections by authorities such as the Labour Department, EPF, and ESI.


- Effectively respond to and resolve queries or issues raised during audits or inspections.


Contract Labour Management


- Oversee compliance in contract labour engagement, including contractor due diligence, documentation, and statutory remittances.


- Ensure proper licensing and registration for contractors and the establishment as needed.


Statutory Filings & Record Keeping


- Ensure timely and accurate submission of statutory filings, returns, and reports to government agencies.


- Meticulously maintain records of all compliance documentation, including licenses, registrations, challans, and inspection reports.


Risk Management & Mitigation


- Identify potential compliance risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.


- Handle labour disputes, grievances, and disciplinary matters in accordance with legal requirements.


- Liaise with legal counsel on complex labour law issues and litigation as needed.


Training & Awareness


- Develop and deliver training for HR teams, managers, and employees on compliance, ethics, and workplace policies.


- Promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct across the organization.


Stakeholder Management


- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (HR, Finance, Legal, Operations) and external partners (regulatory authorities, consultants, legal advisors).


- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies and agencies.


REQUIRED:


- Professional Certification in Labour Compliances


- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in HR Labour Compliance, with significant exposure to the IT/ITES sector in India.


- Demonstrated success in handling complex compliance issues, government inspections, and audits


- Comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of central and state Indian labour laws


- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain legal concepts clearly


- Meticulous attention to detail in documentation and compliance checks


- High ethical standards and professional integrity


- Proactive, self-driven, and capable of managing multiple projects independently


- Effective negotiation and influencing skills


- Proficiency in HRIS and compliance management software
