The Head of Purchase:
- The Head of Purchase will lead the entire procurement strategy, vendor management, and supply chain operations for raw materials, components, and services critical to transformer manufacturing.
- You will be responsible for cost optimization, quality assurance, timely procurement, and supply continuity to support growing production volumes and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement & Planning:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for core materials like CRGO, copper, steel, oils, bushings, and transformer components.
- Monitor market trends and negotiate long-term contracts to lock in competitive pricing and ensure availability.
Vendor Development & Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers (domestic and international).
- Establish strong relationships with strategic vendors to ensure consistent quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Conduct regular supplier audits and performance reviews.
Operational Purchasing:
- Lead and oversee day-to-day procurement activities across all categories.
- Ensure timely release of POs, follow-up, and delivery scheduling in line with production requirements.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels in coordination with stores, production, and planning teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Design, Projects, and Finance teams to align procurement with business goals.
- Collaborate with the R&D and engineering teams for sourcing of new/custom components.
Cost Control & Compliance:
- Drive cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing, value engineering, and alternate supplier development.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with internal controls, quality standards, and statutory requirements.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team to enhance functional capabilities and performance.
- Establish KPIs, dashboards, and reporting systems to track procurement effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Supply Chain Management; MBA (Operations/SCM) preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement/supply chain, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong experience in sourcing materials/components for transformers, switchgear, or heavy electrical equipment.
- Proven expertise in vendor development, price negotiation, and contract management.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills
