Role Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned professional to join our leadership team in Gurugram as an Assistant General Manager - Procurement, specifically focused on the Steel and Mining sector. In this capacity, you will spearhead end-to-end procurement strategies, managing complex supply chains for high-value raw materials and industrial equipment. You will work closely with cross-functional heads, plant operations teams, and global vendors to ensure seamless material availability and cost optimization. By driving strategic sourcing initiatives and fostering long-term vendor partnerships, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our operational efficiency, mitigating supply chain risks, and directly contributing to the bottom-line growth of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and execute comprehensive procurement strategies for steel and mining commodities to ensure uninterrupted production cycles and competitive cost advantages.
- Lead high-stakes contract negotiations with domestic and international suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service level agreements that align with corporate financial objectives.
- Oversee the end-to-end supply chain lifecycle, from demand forecasting and vendor identification to logistics management and inventory optimization, to maintain lean operational standards.
- Implement robust risk management frameworks to anticipate market volatility in commodity pricing and logistics disruptions, ensuring business continuity for all stakeholders.
- Mentor and lead a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence to meet stringent departmental KPIs and organizational goals.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing and category management within the heavy engineering, steel, or mining industries, with a proven track record of managing large-scale procurement budgets.
- Exceptional negotiation and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence senior-level stakeholders and build sustainable, value-driven partnerships with global vendors.
- Strong analytical acumen to interpret market trends, perform cost-benefit analyses, and leverage data-driven insights to optimize procurement processes.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, capable of navigating complex organizational structures and driving consensus across diverse teams.
- A Masters degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field from a premier institute is highly preferred.
- Ability to thrive in an on-site work environment in Gurugram, demonstrating the flexibility to manage on-ground operational requirements and site visits as needed.
