Assistant General Manager - Procurement - Electrical

Key Responsibilities :

Procurement & Sourcing

- Handle procurement of Electrical items, equipment, and services for manufacturing plants and projects.

- Manage sourcing of LT/HT panels, transformers, motors, drives, switchgears, cables, PLC/DCS systems, instrumentation-related electrical requirements, lighting systems, and electrical consumables.

- Execute procurement activities for both Capex projects and plant maintenance requirements.

- Float RFQs, evaluate techno-commercial offers, negotiate pricing, and finalize vendors.

- Ensure timely procurement and delivery as per project and plant schedules.

Vendor Management

- Identify, evaluate, and develop new vendors for electrical categories.

- Conduct vendor negotiations for pricing, payment terms, delivery timelines, and annual rate contracts.

- Maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure uninterrupted supply and service support.

- Monitor vendor performance related to quality, delivery, and commercial compliance.

Cost Optimization & Commercials

- Drive cost-saving initiatives and value engineering opportunities.

- Perform market analysis, benchmarking, and spend analysis for electrical procurement categories.

- Ensure optimum inventory levels and reduce procurement lead time.

- Prepare comparative statements and procurement MIS reports.

Coordination & Execution

- Coordinate with Engineering, Projects, Maintenance, Production, and Finance teams for procurement planning and execution.

- Support commissioning and shutdown activities through timely material availability.

- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, statutory requirements, and audit standards.

Contracts & Documentation

- Manage purchase orders, contracts, techno-commercial agreements, and documentation.

- Ensure proper maintenance of procurement records and ERP transactions.

- Handle contract finalization for electrical project execution and annual maintenance contracts (AMC).

Desired Candidate Profile :

- Strong experience in Electrical Procurement within Manufacturing, Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Textiles, Polymer, Packaging, or Process Industries.

- Hands-on exposure to Capex and Opex procurement.

- Good understanding of industrial electrical systems and equipment.

- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and commercial acumen.

- Experience in SAP / ERP-based procurement processes preferred.

- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and large-value procurement projects.

Educational Qualification

- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering preferred

- MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain or Materials Management will be an added advantage
