Assistant General Manager - HR Operations - Manufacturing Industry

Role : AGM HR OPERATIONS

Responsible for directing the end-to-end employee lifecycle, PMS, C&B, Recruitment, Payroll processing, Statutory compliance, and HR technology and to enhance workplace productivity and deliver a seamless employee experience.

Key Responsibilities :

HR Operations & Lifecycle :

- Oversee the entire employee lifecycle-from onboarding and orientation to offboarding and exit management-ensuring standardized processes across all locations.

Payroll Management :

- Lead end-to-end payroll operations, including compensation, variable pay structures, reimbursements, and final settlements, while partnering closely with Finance.

- Supervise payroll processing, taxation, and statutory deductions.

- Ensure timely salary disbursement and manage payroll-related queries.

Statutory Compliance & Audits :

- Ensure 100% adherence to regional and national labor laws (e.g., PF, ESI, gratuity, and tax regulations). Lead internal/external compliance audits and maintain audit-ready documentation.

- Manage employee grievances and disciplinary actions in alignment with company policies.

- Oversee the complete exit process for resigned, absconding, or terminated employees.

- Execute full and final settlements, and recoveries, and issue separation letters by company policies and legal requirements.

HRMS & Digital Transformation :

- Spearhead the implementation, optimization, and automation of HR Management Systems (HRMS). Drive digitization of employee self-service and workflow management.

- Develop and implement HR policies, SOPs, and best practices to improve efficiency.

- Oversee and manage employee onboarding, background verification, and induction processes.

Team Leadership & Strategy :

- Mentor HR operations, payroll, and compliance teams. Partner with the CHRO or Head of HR to build operational SLAs, establish governance frameworks, and optimize costs.

- Lead and mentor the HR operations team to enhance productivity.

- Work closely with senior management to align HR operations with business goals.

- Collaborate with department heads for smooth workforce management and support.

- Manage and oversee the whole recruiting and hiring process.

Reporting & Analytics :

- Develop HR dashboards and analyze workforce metrics to provide actionable insights on productivity, costs, and compliance risks to executive leadership.

Qualification And Experience :

1. MBA in HR with 12-20 years of progressive and hands-on experience in HR operations, payroll, and compliance. Strong knowledge of HR policies, labor laws, and statutory compliance.

2. Experience designing compensation and benefits packages.

3. Advanced proficiency in HRIS/HRMS platforms, payroll software, and MS Office Suite. Proficiency in HRMS, payroll software, and data analytics.

4. Ability to drive process automation and efficiency improvements.

5. Strong knowledge of labor laws, excellent stakeholder management, analytical problem-solving, and process-orientation.

6. Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
