Job Purpose:

This role will be responsible for managing direct and indirect tax litigation matters, representing the organization before tax authorities and appellate forums, and providing strategic advisory support on tax disputes.

The role requires strong technical expertise, hands-on litigation experience, and the ability to independently handle complex tax matters while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage end-to-end tax litigation matters related to residential real estate projects, including Income Tax, GST, stamp duty, and state-level levies.

- Represent the organization before tax authorities, appellate tribunals, and judicial forums.

- Draft, review, and finalize replies, appeals, submissions, and written arguments for assessments, audits, and notices.

- Handle tax assessments, reassessments, surveys, and audits pertaining to residential projects and housing transactions.

- Provide advisory support on tax implications related to land acquisition, redevelopment, joint development agreements (JDAs), construction contracts, and sale of residential units.

- Coordinate with external counsels, advocates, and tax consultants on litigation strategy and case management.

- Track ongoing litigation, monitor deadlines, and ensure timely statutory compliance.

- Maintain litigation trackers, exposure statements, and MIS reports for senior management review.

- Stay updated on changes in tax laws, judicial precedents, and regulatory developments impacting residential real estate.

- Support internal teams during project structuring, due diligence, and tax risk assessments to prevent future litigation.

Qualifications and Work Experience:

- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with LLB.

- 10-15 years of experience in tax litigation, preferably within the real estate sector or organizations handling relevant portfolios.

- Proven experience in representing matters before tax authorities and appellate forums.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

- Strong expertise in taxation, including GST on construction, direct taxes, and stamp duty.

- Excellent drafting, interpretation, and analytical skills.

- Strong litigation and representation capabilities.

- Ability to independently manage complex, high-value tax disputes.

- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

- High attention to detail and compliance orientation
