Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned supply chain leader to join our organization in Chennai as an Assistant General Manager/Deputy General Manager of SCM - Purchases. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the end-to-end procurement strategy for our Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) operations, ensuring seamless material availability and cost-efficiency in a high-velocity production environment.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including production, quality, finance, and global suppliers to align sourcing strategies with business objectives. By optimizing our vendor ecosystem and driving strategic sourcing initiatives, you will directly influence our competitive positioning, bottom-line profitability, and operational excellence, ensuring we meet the complex demands of our diverse client base.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies to ensure the timely acquisition of high-quality electronic components and raw materials, minimizing production downtime.

- Lead complex contract negotiations with global and domestic vendors to secure favourable pricing, payment terms, and service level agreements that enhance overall margins.

- Manage the entire vendor lifecycle, from identification and onboarding to performance evaluation and relationship management, to ensure a resilient and high-performing supply base.

- Oversee inventory management processes, utilizing SAP MM to maintain optimal stock levels, reduce carrying costs, and mitigate the risks of obsolescence in a fast-paced EMS environment.

- Implement robust cost-reduction initiatives and value engineering projects to drive continuous improvement in procurement spend and operational efficiency.

- Mentor and lead the procurement team, fostering a culture of accountability, data-driven decision-making, and proactive problem-solving to meet organizational KPIs.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing and procurement within the EMS industry, with a deep understanding of electronic component markets and global supply chain dynamics.

- Proven ability to leverage SAP MM for advanced inventory management, procurement planning, and reporting to support data-backed decision-making.

- Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills, with a track record of managing high-value supplier relationships and complex commercial agreements.

- Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive organizational change in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for managing diverse vendor networks and collaborating effectively with internal leadership teams.

- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, preferably complemented by an MBA or a professional certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS/CSCP).

- Ability to thrive in an on-site work environment in Chennai, maintaining high levels of engagement and operational oversight.
