Role Objective

To lead and optimize the procurement and sourcing function for direct and indirect materials, components, and services. The role focuses on cost efficiency, vendor development, quality sourcing, timely delivery, and process compliance in line with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement & Vendor Management

- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational objectives.

- Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable vendors and suppliers for raw materials, components, electricals, fabrication items, and services.

- Build strong relationships with vendors to ensure cost-effective procurement without compromising quality and timelines.

- Lead contract negotiations and annual rate contracts with key suppliers.

Operational Sourcing

- Manage the end-to-end sourcing process including RFQs, comparative analysis, negotiations, purchase orders, and delivery tracking.

- Coordinate closely with R&D, Production, and Quality teams to ensure timely availability of parts for new and existing products.

- Ensure procurement of materials as per BOM and project requirements within defined lead times.

Cost Optimization & Compliance

- Drive cost-saving initiatives through alternate sourcing, supplier consolidation, and volume leveraging.

- Monitor market trends, price movements, and raw material index to plan strategic buying.

- Ensure adherence to procurement policies, documentation, and audit compliance.

Team & Cross-functional Collaboration

- Lead and mentor a small procurement team (if applicable).

- Collaborate closely with Stores, Finance, QA/QC, and Project Management teams for smooth operations.

Strategic Procurement & Vendor Management

- Build strong relationships with vendors to ensure cost-effective procurement without compromising quality and timelines.

- Drive continuous vendor development initiatives by identifying alternate suppliers, fostering competition, and improving vendor capabilities to support cost, quality, and delivery expectations.

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strategic sourcing & negotiation

- Vendor development (including in Tier-II/III cities)

- Familiarity with engineering components, sheet metal, electricals, and fabrication

- Knowledge of ERP (Tally/Zoho/SAP or similar)

- Strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills

Experience & Qualifications

- Bachelor's in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (preferred); MBA in Supply Chain is a plus

- 10-14 years of experience in procurement & sourcing in a manufacturing/engineering company

- Strong understanding of supply chain processes, vendor management, and cost controls

- Prior experience in companies dealing with fabrication, emergency equipment, lighting, or electrical systems preferred
