Position Overview:
- The Area Sales Manager (ASM) will be responsible for driving sales growth, expanding market reach, and managing the distributor network across Barak Valley. The role demands strong FMCG/Dairy sales expertise, leadership ability, and in-depth regional market knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Market Growth:
- Achieve monthly/quarterly/annual sales targets for the assigned area.
- Identify new market opportunities and expand product penetration in retail and wholesale channels.
- Implement strategies to increase market share for dairy/food products.
Channel & Distributor Management:
- Appoint, manage, and develop distributors and sub-stockists.
- Ensure healthy stock levels, timely payments, and smooth logistics coordination.
- Provide regular training and performance monitoring for distributor sales teams (DSR/ISR).
Retail & Market Execution:
- Ensure product availability, visibility, and placement across all outlets.
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing, schemes, and market trends.
- Conduct regular market visits, route audits, and performance evaluations.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and guide the area sales executives/sales officers.
- Provide coaching, route planning, and performance reviews.
- Ensure high productivity and motivation levels within the team.
Planning & Reporting:
- Prepare weekly/monthly sales reports and MIS.
- Recommend promotional activities, schemes, and market development plans.
- Collaborate with marketing, logistics, and finance teams for smooth operations.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in any discipline (MBA preferred but not mandatory).
Experience:
- 7 to 12 years of experience in FMCG, Dairy Products, Food & Beverages, or related industries.
- Strong experience in channel sales, distributor management, and retail execution.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong leadership and team-handling capability.
- Good understanding of the Local market (preferred).
- Proficiency in MS Excel, reporting, and sales analysis.
- Ability to work under pressure and achieve targets.
