Role Summary:
We are hiring an Area Sales Manager - SME & Channel Sales to drive SME customer acquisition in Mumbai through a mix of channel partner-led sales and direct B2B field sales.
This role is ideal for a hands-on sales professional who understands the local SME market, has an existing partner network, and can own the complete sales lifecycle and territory growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Channel Partner Development & Activation:
- Build, onboard, and scale a strong network of channel partners, consultants, resellers, and advisors across the Mumbai SME ecosystem
- Identify high-potential partners and drive revenue through structured engagement and joint sales efforts
- Enable partners with product training, sales collateral, and ongoing support
SME Acquisition & Revenue Growth:
- Drive SME customer acquisition via partner-led and direct field sales
- Own revenue targets, pipeline creation, and closures for the assigned area
- Identify key SME clusters, industries, and micro-markets to maximise penetration
End-to-End Sales Ownership:
- Manage the complete sales cycle: lead generation, discovery, pitching, negotiation, and closure
- Conduct in-person meetings, demos, and presentations with SME decision-makers
- Ensure smooth handover to onboarding and implementation teams
Partner & Market Enablement:
- Conduct regular partner training sessions and joint sales calls
- Monitor partner performance and drive corrective actions
- Share market insights, competitor intelligence, and customer feedback internally
- Strong product, marketing, and backend support from Akal Information Systems
- Take complete ownership of the Mumbai territory with scope to build and lead a local sales team over timeTerritory Ownership & Team Growth
- Maintain CRM hygiene, forecasts, and sales reporting
Candidate Profile:
- 4-8 years of experience in SME B2B SaaS / software sales
- Strong exposure to channel partner-driven sales models
- Existing Mumbai-based channel partner network (CA firms, consultants, resellers, - SME advisors) preferred
- Experience selling HRMS, Payroll, ERP, Tally, Busy, or similar business software
- Strong understanding of SME buyer behaviour, pricing sensitivity, and decision cycles
- Proven ability to generate leads, manage pipelines, and close deals independently
- Comfortable with extensive fieldwork and in-person meetings
