Chief Accountant
Description:
Role Overview.
The Chief Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the complete accounting, finalization, and audit process of the company.
The role requires a detail-oriented finance professional with strong experience in statutory compliance, audit coordination, Ind AS accounting, and cost control.
The incumbent will also play a key role in supporting senior management with financial analysis, controls, and decision support.
Key Responsibilities:
Finalization & Audit:
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual closure of books of accounts.
- Lead preparation and finalization of standalone and consolidated financial statements in compliance with Ind AS.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors, and other consultants to ensure timely completion of audits without qualifications.
- Address and resolve audit queries and ensure compliance with all audit recommendations.
Financial Controls & Reporting:
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial reporting.
- Implement and monitor internal financial controls to strengthen governance.
- Support management in reviewing cost structures, identifying areas for savings, and improving overall financial efficiency.
Taxation & Compliance:
- Oversee and support teams in GST filings, reconciliations, input credit reviews, and responses to departmental queries.
- Coordinate with consultants for direct tax and other matters.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory laws, returns, and reporting obligations.
Management Support:
- Provide actionable financial insights and MIS to senior management for business decisions.
- Assist in preparation of budgets, variance analysis, and forecasts.
- Contribute to financial planning for projects and operational expansions.
Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Lead and mentor a team of accountants across units or zones.
- Coordinate with zonal finance teams for consolidation and reporting.
- Promote collaboration and accountability across finance and operations functions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 8 to 12 years of post-qualification experience (desirable but not mandatory).
- Proven experience in finalization, audit management, and Ind AS reporting.
- Prior exposure to listed infrastructure, power, or construction sectors preferred.
- Experience in handling zonal finance operations or managing independent accounting units will be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of GST, TDS, and other tax matters.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
