Bequest is a cross-border financial services firm working across wealth management, asset management, family offices and corporate advisory. We specialise in giving India access to institutional investors. The team is made up of bankers and investors who have spent a long time in these markets, and the firm is built on doing right by the people whose money we look after.

This role sits close to the founders and is squarely about growing the funds platform business. You would be the person out in the market, carrying our platforms to investors. Most of your time goes into selling the funds platform to institutions and allocators, so you will need to know offshore jurisdictions as well as India FPI/FDI guidelines well enough to explain, plainly, why an investor would pick one over the other.

We will walk shortlisted candidates through the actual strategies, structures and terms.

What the job actually is:

- Finding and opening doors with Indian AIFs/PMS, offshore institutional investors, family offices, fund-of-funds, private banks and distribution partners.

- Running the whole sale yourself, from the first meeting through diligence to the close. You carry a number and you own the outcome. You have the whole team backing you up, always.

- Keeping an honest pipeline. We would much rather hear a deal is soft than be told it is certain and then watch it slip.

- Knowing the funds cold, and the competition too, so you can hold a real conversation with a sophisticated investor.

- Being a good face for Bequest in meetings, at roadshows and at industry events.

- Telling the founders what you are hearing out there. Objections, pricing, gaps in the product. That feedback is how we get sharper.

What we are looking for:

- At least five years selling to institutions, distributing funds, in private banking, or raising capital, with real money raised that you can point to.

- A CA or an MBA is preferred. Either way, you should be comfortable holding your own in a technical conversation.

- A working knowledge of the Indian capital markets, the people in them and the rules that govern them, and a sense of how offshore structures connect back to India.

- The temperament for sales. You are fine hearing no, you keep going, and you like closing.

- Relationships you can put to work from the start are a real advantage.

- Clear writing and clear speech. People tend to trust you fairly quickly.

- A serious regard for other people's capital and for our name. That part is not negotiable.

Nice to have:

- Experience with offshore structures.

- People you know in India (AIF/PMS), GIFT City, the GCC, Singapore, or wherever India-linked money tends to sit.

- A background selling public equity, derivatives, alternatives, private credit, private equity or structured products.

- A book of relationships you can bring with you.
