General Manager - AMCAT Business
Location: In-office, Gurgaon
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: INR 70 L (fixed + performance bonus)
About AMCAT
AMCAT is India's largest employability assessment. It helps students discover their strengths mapped to employability, and gives colleges actionable, data-driven feedback on students' skills and competencies for various job roles. At AMCAT, we're on a mission to transform employability by helping millions of students become career-ready, while enabling institutions and employers to make better talent decisions.
Role Summary
AMCAT is looking for a General Manager to own the full P&L of the business. This is a general management role at the intersection of revenue, delivery, and product strategy. The General Manager will work with the sales team on annual revenue planning, partner with the delivery team to optimize the cost of delivering assessments while preserving a strong experience for colleges and candidates, drive new revenue through online/retail candidate sales, and continuously track how the market is evolving to shape both the short- and long-term product roadmap. The role reports directly to the Board / Promoters and carries full accountability for the business's commercial and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
P&L Ownership:
- Own the end-to-end P&L for the AMCAT business - revenue, cost, and profitability.
- Partner with the sales team on annual revenue planning - setting targets, tracking performance, and course-correcting through the year.
- Report business performance and forecasts to the Board / Promoters, with clear visibility into risks and opportunities.
Revenue Growth & Diversification:
- Work with campus sales team to forecast retention and growth revenue, create a process to track the achievement and report monthly on the variance between forecast to achievement.
- Identify and execute ways to boost revenue through online/retail sales directly to students and candidates, beyond the core institutional (college) channel.
- Explore new monetization models and channels that complement AMCAT's existing B2B relationships with colleges and employers.
Delivery & Cost Optimization:
- Work closely with the delivery team to optimize the cost of delivering assessments at scale, without compromising quality.
- Ensure a consistently good experience for colleges and candidates throughout the assessment lifecycle - scheduling, proctoring, reporting, and support.
- Build metrics and feedback loops to catch delivery or experience issues early, and drive continuous improvement.
Market Insight & Product Strategy:
- Track how the employability assessment and hiring-technology market is evolving - competitors, technology shifts, and customer needs.
- Translate market insight into a short-term and long-term product roadmap, working closely with product and technology teams.
- Ensure AMCAT's offerings stay differentiated for candidate and institutional (college) use cases.
Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Act as the connective layer across sales, delivery, product, and operations - aligning all functions around shared revenue and experience goals.
- Build and mentor a strong leadership team under each function to scale the business sustainably.
What We're Looking For:
- 12+ years of overall experience, with meaningful time spent in a Business/General Manager role carrying direct P&L responsibility, or significant experience working directly with a CEO's office, Founder's office, or Head of Delivery.
- Proven ability to manage a business across the full commercial cycle (revenue planning, delivery/cost management, and product strategy) or strong leadership experience in Revenue Operations.
- Experience working with or leading sales teams to build and hold to annual revenue plans.
- Comfort with operational and delivery metrics: someone who can work with delivery teams to find cost efficiencies without hurting customer experience.
- A strategic lens on market and product: able to read where a market is headed and translate that into a roadmap.
- MBA preferred.
- Prior exposure to EdTech, assessments, HR-tech, or other high-volume B2B/B2C hybrid businesses is a plus.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable reporting directly to a Board / Promoter group.
