Role Overview:
The Snr PM, Forecasting - VRMO role within Amazon's Verifications & Risk Management Operations (VRMO) team is a critical position responsible for developing and executing forecasting strategies that minimize risk and optimize operational efficiency. This role collaborates closely with operations teams, data scientists, and product managers to build and refine forecasting models, analyze trends, and provide actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making. The Snr PM directly impacts Amazon's ability to proactively identify and mitigate risks, ensuring a safe and trusted experience for customers and sellers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain accurate and reliable forecasting models for key VRMO metrics, leveraging statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms, to predict future trends and resource needs.
- Partner with operations leaders to translate forecasts into actionable operational plans, optimizing staffing levels, resource allocation, and process improvements to meet service level agreements.
- Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify drivers of forecast error, proactively identifying opportunities to improve model accuracy and reduce variability.
- Lead cross-functional projects to implement new forecasting tools and technologies, enhancing the team's capabilities and driving automation.
- Communicate forecast insights and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels, influencing decision-making and driving strategic alignment.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to forecasting accuracy and operational efficiency, identifying and addressing areas for improvement.
- Design and implement robust reporting dashboards and visualizations, providing stakeholders with clear and concise insights into forecast performance and trends.
- Drive process excellence initiatives to streamline forecasting processes, reduce manual effort, and improve overall efficiency.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement statistical forecasting models using time series analysis, regression techniques, and machine learning algorithms.
- Proven expertise in data analysis and visualization, with proficiency in tools such as SQL, Python, R, and Tableau.
- Strong project and program management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and drive consensus across cross-functional teams.
- Deep understanding of risk management principles and practices, with experience in identifying and mitigating operational risks.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or Engineering.
