External job description Trans Controllership in Finance is one of the most challenging and exciting spaces to work for, with new Geographies, new modes and new carriers being launched every day and being required to seamlessly integrate with the Transportation technical systems for automatic Ingestion of Freight invoices, thorough auditing, timely payment and for proper accounting to keep our books clean and accurate. Key job responsibilities- : The Senior Manager responsible for auditing systems in Transportation Controllership is a process focused leader and continuously delivers results. This role is the face of our auditing organization with our technology partners, Business and Finance partners and is broadly responsible for four things: 1) Ensuring that carrier transportation invoices are thoroughly audited, carriers are paid the correct amount, and are paid on time, 2) Partner with Accounting teams to ensure that liabilities with our carriers are accurately passed to downstream teams to be reflected in Amazon's financial statements 3) Own the Intake process and seamless integration of new Carriers, Modes and Geographies onto Amazon technical systems 4) Provide BI insights and analytics on the transportation spend trends and patterns, to various stakeholder teams like Carrier Management, Procurement, Accounting, Business / Finance Partners. Tight financial controls and adherence to company policies is required involving a high level of operational discipline and collaboration with internal and external teams. Specific focus areas that help this leader be successful are influencing our business and tech partners, establishing a structure to drive multiple transportation programs and developing a highly productive team. This leader sets the strategic direction for the team and creates and maintains a culture that will help them own, automate and be effective in their day to day work with little or no oversight. A day in the life : - Develop auditing automation strategies for auditing transportation freight invoices and ensuring proper controls are in place in freight auditing and Invoice payment systems. - Work with Upstream and downstream technology teams to seamlessly integrate the new geographies, new modes and new carriers onto our systems for automated ingestion, thorough auditing, timely payments and proper closure of accounting books, without any manual interventions, and thus providing excellent customer experience. - Partner with your team and oversee auditing operations, develop analytical models / automation efforts while overseeing their continuous innovation and communication to both your operations & other business partners. Provide valuable business insights through benchmarking internally and externally based on the carrier invoice data on the overall cost of delivery performance and cost cutting opportunities. - Manage teams, develop exceptional talent, and encourage your team to challenge assumptions. Promote recruiting efforts across the organization to continually hire and develop the best. Basic Qualification Requirements: - Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or similar discipline with analytical bias. - CA and MBA degree combination will be preferred with experience of handling large teams. - Demonstrated financial acumen and analytical experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of business impact and results. - 15+ years of professional experience in roles requiring data analysis, program management, workflow improvement, creative problem solving and cross-functional collaboration. - 10+ years of people management experience. - Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to work with business owners to define key business questions and to build data sets that answer those questions. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Expertise in data mining, data management and strong analytical aptitude. - Experience working with partners and stakeholders to meet deliverable requirements. - Strong leader who can prioritize well and communicate clearly across all levels of the organization with a proven ability to influence others. - Demonstrated bias for action with strengths in problem solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline-driven work environment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask. - Demonstrated ability to credibly coordinate, schedule trade-offs and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with technical teams and business stakeholders. - Proven track record in the delivery of large scale complex cross-functional change projects. - Decision Making and Complex Problem Solving; a system thinker who proactively gathers the right data from appropriate sources to make the right decisions. Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or similar discipline with analytical bias. - CA and MBA degree combination will be preferred with experience of handling large teams. (Size 50+) - 15+ years of professional experience in roles requiring data analysis, program management, workflow improvement, creative problem solving and cross-functional collaboration. - 10+ years of people management experience. - Working knowledge of BI tools and techniques.
