Role Overview:
The Assistant Controller will serve as a pivotal member of the finance organization, ensuring the integrity of financial data and the efficiency of accounting operations. This role involves working closely with the global finance team and cross-functional stakeholders to oversee US-based financial reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls. By maintaining rigorous accounting standards and providing actionable financial insights, the Assistant Controller directly influences the companys fiscal health and supports strategic decision-making at the leadership level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP.
- Oversee US taxation requirements, including the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns and managing local compliance to mitigate fiscal risk.
- Strengthen internal financial controls by implementing robust accounting policies and procedures that safeguard company assets.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate seamless annual audits and tax examinations.
- Analyze financial statements and variance reports to provide management with clear visibility into operational performance and budget adherence.
- Supervise day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance to ensure operational accuracy.
Required Skillset:
- CPA from a Big 4 firm internship - advantage
- Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting
- Extensive knowledge in US GAAP
- Experience auditing of Global companies
- Experience as controller/assistant in Global Hi-Tech companies, an advantage
- Must be fluent in English
- Independent, detail oriented, a team player, a great multitasker
- Willingness to commit to the job and for long hours when needed
- Strong Excel skills
