Calypso Business Analyst


About the Role:


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Calypso Business Analyst to join our dynamic team.


The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Calypso's front-to-back office functionalities, particularly in the areas of Derivatives, Fixed Income, and Collateral Management.

This role requires a strong blend of financial product knowledge and excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical development teams.

You will be instrumental in analyzing business requirements, designing solutions, and ensuring the successful implementation and enhancement of Calypso applications.


Key Responsibilities:

Requirements Gathering & Analysis:

- Collaborate with front office traders, risk managers, operations, finance, and other stakeholders to elicit, analyze, document, and validate business requirements for Calypso enhancements and new implementations.

- Translate complex business needs into clear, concise, and comprehensive functional and technical specifications (FSDs, BRDs).

- Conduct workshops, interviews, and brainstorming sessions with business users to understand current processes and identify areas for improvement within Calypso.

Solution Design & Configuration:

- Design and propose optimal Calypso solutions, leveraging out-of-the-box functionalities where possible, and defining customizations when necessary.

- Configure Calypso modules, including but not limited to Static Data, Product Setup, Trade Capture, Pricing, Workflows, Accounting, Settlements, Confirmations, and Regulatory Reporting.

- Work closely with development teams to ensure technical designs align with functional specifications and business objectives.

Testing & Validation:

- Develop detailed test plans, test cases, and scenarios for System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

- Execute functional testing, analyze results, and facilitate UAT sessions with business users.

- Identify, document, and track defects, working with development teams for resolution.

Project Lifecycle Management:

- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), from initiation to deployment and post-implementation support.

- Manage change requests, assess their impact on existing Calypso functionalities, and prioritize them with stakeholders.

- Provide training and support to end-users on new or enhanced Calypso features.

Documentation & Support:

- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including process flows, data models, and system configurations.

- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for Calypso-related issues, acting as a subject matter expert.

- Stay updated with new Calypso versions, features, and industry best practices.


Required Skills & Experience:


- Calypso Expertise (6-8 years hands-on experience)


- Mandatory deep knowledge of Calypso v15 or higher.

- Extensive experience with Calypso modules such as:

- Front Office: Pricing, Trade Capture, Trade Workflow, Market Data.

- Middle Office: Risk Management (Market Risk, Credit Risk), Collateral Management, Limits Management.

- Back Office: Settlements, Confirmations, Accounting, Payments, SWIFT.

- Core Calypso: Static Data (Legal Entities, Portfolios, Books, Currencies), Workflows, Message Setup, Task Station.

- Proficiency in Calypso configuration, including product definitions, workflows, accounting rules, and message templates.

Financial Product Knowledge:

- Strong understanding of various financial instruments, especially:

- Derivatives: Interest Rate Swaps (IRS), Cross Currency Swaps (CCS), Options, Futures, FX Forwards, NDFs, Credit Default Swaps (CDS).

- Fixed Income: Bonds (Corporate, Government), Repos, Money Market Instruments.

- Collateral Management: ISDA/CSA, Margin Calls, Dispute Resolution.

Regulatory Knowledge:

- Understanding of key financial regulations impacting trading and derivatives (e.g., EMIR, Dodd-Frank, MiFID II, SFTR) and their implications on Calypso implementations.

Methodologies & Tools:

- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

- Proficiency with tools like JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Soft Skills:

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and business concepts to diverse audiences.

- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with cross-functional teams.

- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.


Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

- Relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM, Calypso certifications) are a strong plus
