Job Purpose The Assistant Director - R&D will be responsible for leading research projects, designing and implementing machine learning models, and providing technical expertise within our R&D team. This role requires a blend of strong technical acumen, problem-solving capabilities, and a keen business understanding to translate complex data into practical, impactful solutions for our clients. You will work on cutting-edge technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), to enhance our offerings. Key Responsibilities Machine Learning Research & Development: - Lead and execute machine learning research projects from conception to deployment. - Design, develop, and implement advanced machine learning models and algorithms to address specific business challenges and enhance existing solutions. - Focus on Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications, leveraging techniques for text analysis, information extraction, and understanding. - Apply knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) to innovate and improve our capabilities. - Conduct rigorous experimentation and evaluation of models to ensure optimal performance and robustness. Data Science & Statistical Analysis: - Utilize strong applied statistics skills, including understanding of distributions, statistical testing, regression analysis, and other relevant statistical methods, to derive insights and validate models. - Work with complex datasets, performing data cleaning, feature engineering, and data preparation for model training. Programming & Database Management: - Develop robust and efficient code in Python for data manipulation, model building, and deployment. - Gain a basic understanding of NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB and Cassandra, for data storage and retrieval. Collaboration & Communication: - Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including product development, delivery, and domain experts, to integrate R&D outputs into client-facing solutions. - Clearly communicate complex technical concepts and research findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team. Continuous Improvement & Methodologies: - Stay abreast of the latest advancements in machine learning, data science, and AI, continuously seeking to incorporate new techniques and tools into our R&D efforts. - Contribute to and foster an understanding of Agile methodologies and scrum principles within the team (nice to have). - Utilize tools like JIRA and Confluence for project management and collaboration (nice to have). Required Background Technical Skills (Mandatory): - Experience: 6 to 10 years of experience as a Machine Learning Researcher or Data Scientist. - Education: Degree in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. Strong business acumen is also essential. - Applied Statistics: Good applied statistics skills, including understanding of distributions, statistical testing, regression, and other relevant statistical methods. - Machine Learning Expertise: Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, with specific knowledge and experience related to Large Language Models (LLMs). - Natural Language Processing (NLP): Proven experience with NLP concepts, techniques, and applications. - Programming: Strong scripting and programming skills in Python. - Databases: Basic understanding of NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB and Cassandra. Technical Skills (Nice to Have): - Domain Exposure: Exposure to the financial research domain. - Tools: Experience with project management tools like JIRA and Confluence. - Methodologies: Understanding of scrum and Agile methodologies. - Data Visualization: Experience with data visualization tools, such as Grafana, GGplot, etc. Soft Skills: - Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly. - Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills, with a curious and detail-oriented mindset. - Passion: Demonstrates a genuine passion for machine learning, data science, and innovation, coupled with curiosity and attention to detail.
