Job Description - Business Systems Analyst Title: Business Systems Analyst Position Purpose: - The Business Systems Analyst's role is to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient business, financial, operations, and reporting systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes. - This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. - The Business Systems Analyst is also responsible for generating and compiling reports based on the findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments and act as the subject matter expert for internally developed and package software solutions. Essential Responsibilities: Strategy: - Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, reporting and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues - Lead design sessions in designing & prototyping new systems to enhance business processes, operations, reporting, and information data flow - Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems - Coordinate between IT and business stakeholders to assist in identifying, developing, and promoting value add deliverables based on incremental value - Proactively identify new features and functions to improve business processes - Perform testing to ensure requirements are satisfied by developed/configured solution, and addressing any issues discovered with technology team Collaboration: - Create systems models, specifications, diagrams, logical data models, and charts to provide direction to colleagues during requirements definition, design, and all other phases of the software development lifecycle - Meet with the business or client lead representatives to understand their business needs - Support developers and QA during the build and implementation phases - Communicate with management to ascertain priorities, review documentation, and provide status - Partner with outside departments and other project teams to maintain visibility into concurrent efforts and how the different solutions being developed are interrelated to ensure compatibility and interoperability of IT supported computing systems - Assist stakeholders in performing cost-benefit and return on investment analysis for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions Leadership: - Act as the subject matter expert for systems and processes within the IT team - Act as a liaison to business community to address issues - Act as an advocate to drive solutions through options based in business process design - Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in operating systems across the organization Compliance: - Understand and conform with IT Controls and SOX Requirements - Request management approvals for all major system enhancements and communicate to all participating team members any change to the requirements after approval Position Qualifications: - College degree in software or systems engineering, computer science, information systems management, or the equivalent - Experience in traditional Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) project implementations - Experience in Agile software development processes and execution - 3+ years of experience in software design, modeling and documentation to meet customer needs within project timeline constraints - 3+ years of experience leading design sessions with customers to determine mutually agreeable solution. Demonstrated consultative experience leading solution design discovery - Ability to multitask and work efficiently within several project deliverables simultaneously - Strong understanding of Office Tools: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio (or other modeling tools) Professional Skills: - Experience with financial or accounting systems is preferred, such as report design, P&L statements, financial data validation, systems integration and migration. - Ability to write functional requirements, use cases, and other analysis/design artifacts effectively (storyboards, screen prototypes, etc.) - Experience with interface and database design supporting business processes and reporting. - Excellent SQL querying skills on SQL Server and/or Oracle - Experience with analysis and design of data flows, data integration, ETL processes and with data warehouse analysis and design including dimensional data modeling - Experience with the software development life cycle - Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills - Excellent listening and interpersonal skills - Excellent verbal and written communications skills - Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment - Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment - Staffing experience desirable - Experience with sales organizations or enterprise financial software a plus - CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) Certification a plus - ScrumMaster Certification a plus - Must be willing to travel occasionally Work Environment: Office
