Description:
We are partnering with a globally acclaimed university to hire an Accountant for its India operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to play a foundational role in supporting the building and scaling of the institution's India presence.
As a key member of the operational team, the individual will provide financial insights, support engagement with regulators and auditors, and ensure the integrity of financial information at both the India campus and global university level.
Core Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, journals, and financial documentation.
- Prepare and process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring compliance with internal policies and local regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including budget versus actual analysis and variance explanations.
- Support the Head of Finance & Compliance in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, cash flow management, and financial projections.
- Ensure compliance with Indian taxation, statutory reporting, and regulatory requirements, including GST and payroll obligations.
- Assist in audits by preparing schedules, responding to queries, and ensuring timely submission of required documentation.
- Monitor financial transactions and implement internal controls to safeguard institutional assets.
- Contribute to financial system improvements and process efficiencies, including automation and reporting enhancements.
- Work collaboratively with central finance teams to ensure alignment of processes, policies, and reporting standards.
Key Requirements:
- Degree in accounting, finance, commerce, or a related discipline.
- Professional accreditation (e.g., CA, CPA) is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance within complex organizations.
- Strong understanding of Indian taxation, statutory reporting requirements, and higher-education financial frameworks.
- Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Experience working within an international, multicultural, or higher-education environment is advantageous.
