Job Description:
For the role of Deputy Vice President (DVP) Investment and Operations within an Alternative Investment Fund (AIF), the professional will serve as a strategic lead managing the full investment lifecycle and operational framework. Their primary mission is to scale the fund through high-quality deal sourcing and evaluation while maintaining the integrity of the existing loan/investment portfolio.
Job Summary:
The DVP (Investment & Operations) will drive the AIFs growth by identifying and evaluating lucrative investment opportunities, mobilising deal flow from diverse sources, and overseeing the operational health of the funds assets. This role requires a blend of rigorous financial analysis, proactive relationship management, and strict adherence to regulatory governance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Investment Evaluation & Execution:
- Proposal Screening: Lead the preliminary screening of investment proposals to assess market sizing, unit economics, and governance standards.
- Due Diligence: Direct comprehensive financial, legal, tax, and technical due diligence to validate the viability and risk profiles of target assets.
- Deal Structuring: Develop complex financial models for valuation (DCF, precedent transactions) and negotiate term sheets with robust investor protections.
- IC Presentations: Prepare and present detailed investment notes to the Investment Committee (IC) for final approval.
2. Deal Mobilisation & Sourcing:
- Proprietary Deal Flow: Proactively source deals through a network of founders, investment bankers, industry bodies, and incubators.
- Strategic Partnerships: Build and maintain a "funnel scorecard" to track and convert leads from national distributors into viable fund partnerships.
3. Portfolio Management & Health:
- Covenant Tracking: Conduct periodic reviews (monthly/quarterly) of the loan/investment portfolio to track financial covenants and identify early-warning triggers.
- Risk Mitigation: Implement robust operational risk frameworks to safeguard fund assets and ensure high asset quality.
- Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as IRR, DPI, and RVPI against industry benchmarks to ensure the portfolio remains healthy and profitable.
4. Operational Oversight & Compliance:
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure ongoing compliance with SEBI regulations including investor thresholds and corpus limits.
- To oversee NAV computation, capital account statements, and statutory audits.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: CA, MBA (Finance), or CFA. Mandatory NISM Series XIX-C certification is typically required.
- Experience: 10-15+ years in AIF, Private Equity, or Investment Banking, with a proven track record in sourcing and exits.
- Technical Skills: Mastery of advanced financial modelling, SEBI AIF regulatory frameworks, and valuation guidelines (IPEV/MF norms).
- Soft Skills: Strong negotiation ability, executive presence for boardroom discussions, and meticulous attention to compliance.
