Role Overview
This is a high-trust role within 4Thoughts' Founder's Office practice, dedicated to supporting a single founder client and managing key aspects of their personal and family financial affairs.
The Relationship Manager will serve as the primary point of coordination across investments, taxation, compliance, accounting, documentation, banking relationships, and risk management. The role requires close collaboration with advisors, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless execution and oversight.
The ideal candidate will combine strong financial and compliance knowledge with exceptional stakeholder management, discretion, and a proactive approach to execution.
Key Responsibilities
Investment policy and portfolio oversight
- Collaborate with the CIO and the founder to define, document, and periodically review the Investment Policy Statement (IPS) covering asset allocation, risk appetite, liquidity needs, and return objectives
- Ensure all portfolio actions - across equities, fixed income, mutual funds, and alternatives - are executed in strict alignment with the agreed IPS
- Monitor portfolio performance, attribution, and rebalancing requirements; prepare structured review materials for the founder on a regular cadence
- Coordinate with internal fund managers, external advisors, and custodians to ensure seamless execution
Alternatives sourcing and evaluation
- Proactively identify, screen, and present alternative investment opportunities across private equity, private credit, real estate, structured products, and other asset classes in which the founder expresses interest
- Prepare investment memos and due diligence summaries for founder review, coordinating with internal research and external advisors as needed
- Manage pipeline tracking, capital call schedules, and ongoing monitoring for alternative investments
- Liaise with GPs, co-investment platforms, and transaction advisors to maintain a live deal flow
Compliance and regulatory filings
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all regulatory obligations - including SEBI-related disclosures, PMLA KYC reviews, RBI/FEMA filings (ODI, LRS), and related compliance requirements
- Coordinate with the firm's compliance team and external legal counsel (where required) to track filing calendars and ensure zero defaults
- Maintain a compliance tracker covering all applicable obligations for the founder entity, family trust structures, and investment vehicles
- Stay current on regulatory changes under SEBI, RBI, and Income Tax frameworks relevant to UHNI and promoter-class clients
Accounting and financial reporting
- Oversee accuracy of all accounting entries across the founder's investment accounts, family entities, and trust structures - working with the finance / accounts team
- Review consolidated net worth statements, cash flow summaries, and tax computation inputs on a periodic basis
- Ensure capital gain statements, dividend records, and other tax-relevant data are maintained accurately and furnished to the tax advisory team ahead of deadlines
- Flag discrepancies, reconciliation issues, or misclassifications proactively
Legal documentation and agreement review
- Review, negotiate, and maintain all agreements pertaining to the founder's investment portfolio - including subscription agreements, term sheets, co-investment documents, ODI transaction documentation, and counterparty agreements
- Coordinate legal review with external counsel on complex or high-value transactions; maintain a version-controlled repository of all executed documents
- Ensure agreements are aligned with regulatory requirements, especially for cross-border structures and overseas direct investment transactions
- Track covenant obligations, renewal dates, and notice periods across all active agreements
Promoter risk management
- Monitor and manage risks arising from the founder's promoter status - covering regulatory thresholds, trading restrictions, lock-in obligations, and related compliance considerations specific to listed company promoters
- Maintain a structured promoter risk tracker covering key holdings, regulatory positions, and compliance milestones; flag emerging risks to the CIO and legal counsel in a timely manner
- Coordinate with listed company compliance officers, depository participants, and other relevant counterparties to ensure ongoing alignment with applicable regulatory requirements
- Advise on the timing and structuring of market-related decisions in the context of applicable regulatory frameworks and disclosure obligations
Founder relationship and office coordination
- Serve as the single point of contact for the founder on all financial matters - ensuring a seamless, highly responsive experience
- Prepare and present periodic wealth reviews, covering performance, compliance status, upcoming actions, and strategic recommendations
- Coordinate across the 4TF team (investment, compliance, legal, accounts) to ensure all workstreams are delivered on time and to the founder's expectations
- Maintain strict confidentiality across all aspects of the engagement
Desired Skills & Qualifications
Experience and background
- 7-12 years of experience in private banking, wealth management, or a family office (SFO or MFO) environment
- Prior experience as a dedicated RM or senior wealth advisor to UHNI / promoter-class clients strongly preferred
- Exposure to alternative investments, cross-border transactions, and promoter-specific compliance (SEBI SAST, PIT, LODR) will be a significant advantage
- Familiarity with ODI / FEMA frameworks is a plus; deep expertise is not required as the team handles filings
Skills and competencies
- Solid working knowledge of asset classes, portfolio construction, and IPS-driven management Investment management
- Comfort navigating SEBI, RBI/FEMA, and Income Tax frameworks applicable to HNI / promoter clients Regulatory literacy
- Ability to read, review, and negotiate complex financial and legal agreements Documentation rigour

Qualifications
- MBA (Finance) from a reputed institution, or CFA / CA designation
