Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Procurement Manager - Metals and Mining to lead our procurement activities in Africa. This critical role involves developing and executing procurement strategies for metals, minerals, and related commodities, ensuring a reliable and cost-effective supply chain. You will collaborate closely with operations, engineering, finance, and legal teams to optimize procurement processes, manage supplier relationships, and mitigate risks. Your expertise will directly impact our operational efficiency, profitability, and sustainability initiatives in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies for metals, minerals, and related commodities, aligning with overall business objectives and risk management policies.

- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, negotiating contracts, and establishing long-term partnerships to secure favorable terms and ensure supply continuity.

- Manage and optimize the entire procurement lifecycle, from demand planning and sourcing to contract negotiation, execution, and supplier performance management, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

- Conduct thorough market analysis and cost modeling to identify cost reduction opportunities and implement effective cost control measures across the procurement function.

- Oversee vendor management activities, including supplier selection, onboarding, performance monitoring, and relationship management, fostering collaborative partnerships to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

- Negotiate and manage complex contracts with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms, mitigating risks, and resolving disputes effectively.

- Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines and optimizing resource allocation to achieve cost savings targets.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, finance, and legal, to align procurement strategies with business needs and ensure seamless execution.

- Monitor and analyze key procurement metrics, identifying trends, and implementing corrective actions to improve performance and achieve strategic objectives.

- Ensure compliance with ethical sourcing practices, environmental regulations, and corporate social responsibility standards throughout the supply chain.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic procurement plans, resulting in significant cost savings and improved supply chain performance.

- Proven expertise in vendor management, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management, fostering collaborative partnerships and driving continuous improvement.

- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, budgeting processes, and financial analysis techniques.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.

- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

- Deep knowledge of the metals and mining industry, including market trends, supply chain dynamics, and regulatory requirements.

- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, including e-sourcing platforms, contract management systems, and ERP systems.

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.

- Adaptability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, with a strong commitment to achieving results.

- Experience in Logistics and supply chain optimization.
