In 1926, that Late Shri. Raobahadur Hanmantramji Rathi initiated the charitable giving by Rathi family, for the masses where he lived, i.e. Pune. Tarachand Ramnath Charitable Hospital Trust was the first initiative by him, in partnership with Pune Municipal Corporation, to provide medical care to socio-economically weaker sections of society. The hospital that functions till date operates on Indian principles of holistic healing, and its affiliation to Tilak Ayurvedic College ensures that the tradition of Ayurveda is carried forward. As on date, close to 85 doctors provide free services consistently, while the partnership with Tilak Ayurved College ensures that the principles of holistic healing are passed on to future generation of doctors and nurses.
It was in 1929 that the Trust established the Tarachand Ramnath Atithi Bhavan in Vrindavan (UP), so as to not only provide care and comfort to the visiting pilgrims, but also to preserve the heritage of Vrindavan and help nurture the deep-rooted values. Approximately 8,000 pilgrims from across India benefit due to the Bhavan, annually. Recently the Gyangudadi Kala-Kshetra has been added in Vrindavan to cultivate and promote amongst local youth, the art forms of Gaayan, Wadan and Nritya.

Around the same time, i.e. in 1929, The Raobahadur Hanmantramji Rathi girls’hostel was established in partnership with Maheshwary Vidya Pracharak Mandal, Pune. Till date, it annually provides accommodation to 80 girls, pursuit higher education in Pune.

In 1940s, the Raobahadur Hanmantram Rathi Trust was established to not only support development work by the Rathi family, but also to organize all the projects. It helped consolidate the efforts for hospital, Rathi Atithi Bhavan, Poonawali Dharamashala in Tirupati, Pandharpur Devastahan, amongst many others.

In the year 2007, Shri Shrikantji Hanmantrami Rathi established the Tarachand Ramnath Seva Trust (TRST) to ensure deeper focus on key community issues with a strategic vision to spark social change. He committed 1 Anna (6.25%) of the family’s annual income towards charitable initiatives.

The Tarachand Ramnath Shaikshanik Sankul provides holistic education to students from socio-economically weaker communities, by utilizing best-in-class learning resources. The Tarachand Ramnath Seva Trust deployed the Panchkosha system of learning to inspire independence in children and enhance their holistic growth. The institute has grown multi-fold over the years, and today, also hosts vocational training courses to provide access to better jobs and livelihood for students.

With the Vision of, “Bring communities together to create and sustain better tomorrow”, the Tarachand Ramnath Seva trust is now the main media of social change for the family. With involvement of the next generation of family, Shri. Nandkishoreji Shrikantji Rathi, and Shri. Ratanji Shrikantji Rathi, the organization has transitioned form traditional charitable approach to a more philanthropic, problem solving attitude.

In its new avatar, the Tarachand Ramnath Seva Trust has three key focus areas:

(i) Good Health & Well Being;
(ii) Quality Education; and
(iii) Sustainable Cities.

In all these verticals, the Trust employs basic principles of leverage, i.e. to take up initiatives, where the impact of their investment is at least (if not more) doubled by the ecosystem.

Through Sustainable Cities, the Trust actively contributes towards implementing the 20 year Pune City Development Plan. By involving all concerned parties in creating necessary urban infrastructure such as playgrounds, primary schools and parking lots, the Trust ensure sustainable development of Pune.

Saiyam (self-restraint), in partnership with Jnana Prabodhini’s Institute of Psychology, is a collaborative initiative to ensure addictions are stopped even before they take root. Focused on early awareness programs for students of 8th to 10th standard, it empowers the youth with tools to build self reliance and self-control. The project also focuses on creating mass awareness on responsible practices to raise a less risky society.
Presently, Tarachand Ramnath Seva Trust is planning to have a Sanatorium for the patients and their families in and around Pune city. A Sanatorium is a place where patients and their relatives can stay in a stress-free environment for a short period without the stress of going to the hospital. Simply put, we view the sanatorium as "a home away from home."
Thanking you, expecting your association in future!
